Southend at this level

If I wanted to find out something about Col Ewe's history which might possibly represent a point scored over them, should I:

A) Look it up on Soccerbase like anybody else?

or

B) Pop over to a Col Ewe forum and post an innocently worded request for that information, then feign shock when told where to go?

Hmmm...

:guns:

Well pardon me for trying to find out information from a usually reliable source (i.e. Shrimperzone).

I often use SoccerBase as it happens, but posted on here as I was reading all the comments on the other thread at the time.

If you read the other posts on this thread, I have made it clear that it is not a point scoring exercise, but if you are insecure enough to think as much, so be it.

Edited to say: If nothing else, this thread has been useful to once again remind me of the brilliant Southend database site - hopefully, one of our fans will, in time, be able to produce something of similar relevance and usefulness in future.

I remember that day! We did indeed go up to 3rd, out highest position that season, 93/94.

Best Southend team performance I have ever witnessed, as close to Total Football as a team in blue (well red, that day) have ever come! I bumped into Gary Poole on a plane a couple of years ago and spoke about that season. He said if Fry had said we would have at least made the playoffs, although it was Edwin Stein & David Howell who were basically in charge, Fry just "motivated" everybody!

:hilarious:

Right-o, and the same goes for the fans on your site taking umbrage at "innocent" requests as to how many fans you'll bring I assume?

I never thought that I'd be made to miss what we had with Orient, but how wrong can you be? Cue predictable punchline re: next season...

The inevitable disappearance of the Col Ewe fans from this site once the shoe is on the other foot, while pitiful, certainly won't be without its positives.

*wipes tears from eyes*

Nice bro, how many games did we win out of the last 20? Can't have been many!

The thing is, if you are so dismissive of all of the "decent" fans who try and engage in an articulate debate, its no wonder you're usually left with the wind up merchants and the ones that give the rest a bad name.

Myself and Colchester_and_proud have made efforts to try and engage in positive discussion, so I don't see what your particular gripe is with some of us.

I think it's more than a bit disappointing not to have more clamour for the tickets - for me this is a game I've been looking forward to for ages.

I would guess we will bring 1,500-1,600 down - not a sell out, no, but enough to enjoy a bit of banter.

As others have said, from 6,000 ST holders, you'd only sold 600 by general sale before selling the other 350-400, so it seems (sadly) that the game doesn't have the intensity it should with the fans.

I hate Col Ewe with a passion but I concede this point: as far as I'm concerned (and it's not up to me anymore), you are welcome to come onto the ShrimperZone and express your views on our clubs and other issues. I'm not entirely sure what's up with some people ...

As Sussex Shrimper is so keen to point out the virtues of soccerbase, the 92/93 season ended with Southend winning eight of their last twenty, including 2-0 over West Ham.

We beat Wet Spam 1-0 the season after to pretty much garuantee our safety, but cheers anyway.

I hope you are not tarring everybody with the same brush!
I personally think it's good for the site to have a coherent CUFC poster on here!

He's obviously not seen you after a few bevvies then Mr :)

And no, Glasgow, you've been very accommodating. It's good to have a debate with Southend fans without resorting to being snide and childish.

Yeah I agree, you sheep-$ha**ing, fertiliser eating, banjo playing, in-bred farm-hand.
