From what I hear a drunk fell off a wall and they closed the South Stand East exit. Saw him on a stretcher and he looked in a bad way.

Still, we all got to walk along the edge of the pitch and I got to shake Clohessy's hand.

Looked a very nasty incident. I hope the guy recovers. We saw the ambo pull up at the hospital as well as we were walking to the car and it didn't look good.

Guy had been drinking is in ITU at Southend in a bad way, ever had a drink and done something stupid before, think before you comment!!!
I am assuming the guy was actually drunk, there are other conditions that can present in a similar way but if he hadn't have drunk so much at what was a relatively early time in the day, it probably wouldn't have happened and if he hadn't been doing something illegal it wouldn't have happened?

Of course people don't want others ending up in ITU but, as with a lot of what goes on with the emergency services, the accident is a result of his own ill judged behaviour and incapacity through drinking too much alcohol. The people I have sympathy for are his family, the ambulance crew and those at Southend Hospital who will be doing their best for him.

Very harsh OBL,give the lad a break,we've all done silly things when ****ed.

Harsh OBL, we have all done silly things when drunk.

Hopefully the guy will make a speedy recovery.

its all rumour at this stage wether the guy was drunk at the time of the accident i was told someone had fallen over a wall near to st johns hut and i saw him being carried down as i was walking on to the pitch and exiting through the east stand
cant seem to find any reports on any of the news sites re the accident and the mans condition

Do we know for sure he was drunk -- he might have been having a bad turn or a fit.
Which is why I qualified my statement at the beginning. What I'm saying is that far too often the emergency services are dealing with incidents as a result of people being drunk, be that a drink/driving incident, fallout from clubs in the small hours etc. IF he was drunk then it was an avoidable incident which had he been sober, may easily NOT have happened.

Excess seems to be the byword of far too many in far too many circumstances these days. Sorry if that's too judgemental for some of you.

Harsh OBL - your **** don't stink does it!
I recognise my own faults and deal with them. People don't know when to stop these days and it's often a race to see who can get the most drink down their neck in the shortest time. As I've said, and mcnasty's said, there is no proof that the guy was drunk, however, the Club have done their best to try and stop people getting into that corner of the ground and if it's now a risky business then doing it while in no fit state is hardly sensible is it? Like I said earlier, being drunk impairs your judgement, so possibly if he was drunk, then he might have done what was effectively an illegal thing with rather less risk to himself.

IF he was drunk

IF he was drunk
Which is what I keep saying. Do keep up. Whatever state he was in, he was doing something wrong at the time. Ok, he didn't deserve to end up in ITU but if he hadn't been doing what was wrong then he wouldn't have fallen off the wall would he? Basic common sense really.
