Sounding poor...

Hey Baby normally wouldn't be my cup of tea, but it did create a memorable moment at my wedding (memorable for other people you understand, for me the whole thing was memorable).

It was late, everyone was plastered and there was a very immediate danger of the birdie song being played - the DJ wasn't keen on the idea, neither was I, so he asked me what to play instead. The only cheerful floor filler I could think of that hadn't already been played yet was "that one they play at the footy after we score". Luckily the DJ understood my sub-karaoke rendition and did the honours.

The Pavlovian response amongst the predominantly Southend supporting wedding goers was a sight to behold - especially my Mum "I don't really do parties" bouncing around punching the air like Wayne Gray had just scored the winner against Brizzle - bought a tear to my eye...

Better still get her to come in and sing it.

Surely it is not difficult. If it is what is the problem? Almost nothing is insurmountable. Some more belief both on and off the pitch is required.
They initialy kept ramming Terry Aldertons song down our throats but that never caught on.

I really like "Bolero" from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack that they play about 15 minutes before KO.

I also like the Republica/Two Tribes mash up they play when they run out for the 2nd half, (although this now seems to have been replaced with Fedde le Garde)

But I do think it's naff when Brian gets the Freddy Eastwood song going. To the away fans I think it merely hammers home that the Roots Hall atmos is generally crap and we need to be prodded into singing by our PA announcer.

I'd like to see "Kerncraft" return when we score a goal, would sound really good now we have a half decent sound system in place (which seems to have alienated our older fans from what I read in the SUSCT newsletters). I've got the remixes used by the Boston Bruins (NHL) where the crowd chant along to it and it really works. Alternatively after watching the darts I'm liking Planet Funk "Chase The Sun". Those drunken darts fans seemed really into it after every set.

Such is the musical influence on a matchday theres some songs like the ones danced to by the Bluebelles, and those I mentioned above) that I always associate with Southend now.

*bump*

Now I don't want to take ALL of the credit for this one but....

Poor argument. Im 22 and think the music is sh!t. I defy you to find anyone above the age of 16 that thinks its ‘cool’. Targeting the under 16’s is surely a minority.
im 16 and i find the after goal song annoying, i like the mix thats played before everygane for about 10mins, that really makes me feel up for the game. also Jude (apparently, as my mum told me it was called:p ) really seems to get the crowd going before the game as of late

Jesus! No! Not that crap again!!

Why do we need any music at all?! This isn't an ice-hockey game with stops and starts and organ-players plonking along to the tempo of the game from the top of the South Stand. Whatever happened to just watching football? Whatever happened to catching up with mates before the game or chatting about the performance during half-time without having to shout and scream because some electronic bleeps and bloops rubbish is being blasted over the PA system?

At least we've got rid of that guy who used to rattle on for hours before the game drowning everyone out.

Because, like it or not it's the year 2007 and going to watch sport is an entertainment package these days complete with brash PA systems and peroformances from Chico pre-match. Theres about as much chance of us going back to silence as there is of us standing on the North Bank. anyway, Why chat to your mates at half time when theres Bluebelles to perv at? :D

That was a great shout too. Zombie Nation is the best celebration song I've heard in my time at the Hall!
