Sounding poor...

Been at Uni, so haven’t beeen able to get to many home games this season.

Made West Brom on Saturday, what a game!

After JCR, a player that receives so many mixed opinions, scored his first ever goal for southend (and what a goal!) all I wanted to do is sing at the top of my voice his song, show him that we do appreciate him.

BUT…

Instead im sing… ‘ooh aah I wanna know if you’ll be my girl’

What the f%ck is all about that about?! How long has that been going on??? Don’t remember some cheesy pop song coming on every we scored last season. Think it sounds pathetic, 10,000 of us all in unison singing ‘ooh aah I wanna know if you’ll be my girl’. What a load of bollox. Just let the crowd sing, I blame the Americans, im sure ‘score music’ has stemmed from them.

Even heard it on MOTD, think it was Wigan. Really, really poor. Please, SUFC, let us not follow this sad suit.

Agree, all goal music should be banned, when we score it is about the only time we make some noise and it gets drowned out by what can only be described as student disco tosh.

Spot on.

Sadly this has been creeping into the English game for some time, and I fear we are too late to stop the rot.

Unbelievably some people actually think the position of club DJ/tannoy announcer is important in terms of generating atmosphere. Personally I believe having some crappy pop music blasted into my ears through a tinny PA is probably the last thing to get me into a singing mood. Turn it off and let the fans sing!

Eh? The 'Hey Baby' song has been played after a goal at Roots Hall for the last two seasons.

Well its two seasons too long. Its not what football is about. As stated above, this poor attempt at trying to create atmosphere is having a huge opposite effect whilst making us all look like a bunch of muppets.

Agreed, especially the pre-match music. It gets on my wobbly bits

I quite like the pre-match music. I could easily live without the post-goal song though.

I'd rather have the pre-match music than any more legendary "You're out of touch / You're out of time" / Chico half-time highlights!

But keep the BlueBelles surely ?

I'd be happy if Hall & Oates came along and sang the original. That was a f%cking great song before someone came along and ruined it.

Turn all the music off, except for that perky tune that plays before kick-off and makes my neckhair stand to attention.

Oh dear, I actually like it!

And most of the time Freddy gets his own song!

At the risk of being controversial, I never see why so many get excited by the Blue Belles.

You old duffers. The majority of our fans are below the age of 25 therefore the music is aimed at them. I however like the music and cant see a problem with it.

what was the song we used to play after a goal? some dancey thing, I want to say Kernkraft and Zombie are involved somewhere in the title... at least with that one you got the impression we might be the only club that did it, whereas Hey Baby is somewhat too obvious.

that said, i'm enjoying the burst of 'Put Your Hands Up For Detroit' prior to the 2nd half- think that one might have been picked by the players judging by the way JCR gets down to it.

I dont mind the music after a goal, but your right that song is a shocking one to play, bring back zombie nation!

I'm under the age of 25 and I think it's pretty rubbish.

No music might even make our fans realise that it's traditional at football matches to chant.

They're girls....in hardly any clothes....and they're all pert and stuff.....

What's not to like?

Poor argument. Im 22 and think the music is sh!t. I defy you to find anyone above the age of 16 that thinks its ‘cool’. Targeting the under 16’s is surely a minority.
