I doubt we'll see any money from the Bentley/Payne deals for at least another 12 months, especially Bentley.

Possible, but often transfer fees aren't paid immediately. Or in instalments, so as long as we know were getting money we could have invested in that elusive commanding CB who can score from set pieces.

5 month contract, this must mean club are not very confident about him. I'm getting the feeling the club are pretty desperate this season. It's going to be a long season for us me thinks!

That is one interpretation. I must admit that the 5 month contract does seem a little strange at first but the more I think about it the more it makes sense ............. and dare I say it but I think that club may have been a little clever here.

We have in the past had players on our books that we don't really play so this would avoid a repeat of that situation. And as said by one poster perhaps there is something here about the wages as well. Perhaps this gives Socko a chance to win a longer contract and some better wages - good us for us and good for Socko.

And if it all goes wrong then we only have to wait until the end of the year before the contract comes to an end.

Yay someone to Partner Thomson at CB. Our troubles are over. When's the play off finals? I'll look for flights now

Desperate signing imo.......he was awful for 45 minutes against Newcastle, tackling, reading the game, dragged out of position, the one header he had from a set piece he headed it back across the box into the keepers arms when it was easier to go for goal & not to mention the long hoofs/passes forward that the keeper gratefully received, even Barrett had a word with him after about the 5th one.........just a general lack of football awareness & intelligence, that's why he only got offered 5 months here at a time when PB is crying out for players.........he is no better & worse than we have.

Its got to be AT & AB that start, AT looked a lot more comfortable on the ball than JS.

Id rather PB bring a defender through the youth ranks & get minutes on a Saturday than JS

I think with a week to go and we need another Centre Half and Sokolik needs a Club,no other offers I believe, it's a fit
The only way he will be solid is with AB next to him, coaching him along. But of course this leads to another problem with Adam being 35 and past his best
Only time will tell whether his better than Bolger or Pross, on what we sa at Stevenage last season, it's going to be a long season
UTB

You sir are Billy Edge and I claim my £5

Sorry Rigsby
I was in Stevenage working and went to the Stevenage Yeovil game, where he was playing with Mark Laird and was very poor on the day, with the Yeovil fans saying he had been poor most of his game
Lets hope PB inspires him
For me Thommo is a better choice

OK thanks. Good to have first hand accounts.

I haven't seen nowhere near enough to make a judgement. Still we have had plenty of other players in the last few seasons who were rejected else where but have proved more than useful in a Southend shirt. 5 months should be enough for all concerned.

Not true. I'm happy with Cox, Demetriou, Oxley & McGlashan. If we can get the McGlashan that was at Cheltenham then we've a real asset. But no, I'm not happy about the signing of the Yeovil reject.
Any reason for using the word. 'Reject' just for him and not he other players that were released but we signed?

can anyone remember which side he played here first time?
i thought Egan played right side and JS left.
if i'm right this is a decent signing as he can cover both centre backs given that, sadly, Thompson's left foot is for standing on only
