Desperation signing in the first place
Barnard was at the end of his usefulness, Clifford had potential that at 25 now has not materialised, Pigott had attitude and Cassidy at 23 needs to pull his socks up as he had something about him. All you have shown is that with these PB was no better with them than any other manager.
We did, though, have a squad earlier this year that did have more ability than the results showed. PB could not muster them. I am glad he has the personnel that can do the business and aid the team and results/performances are great. I applaud the side that he has built but still believe his past record shows the inability to get the best out of average players and we are a club that will always have it's share of those.
Completely agree, no-one is getting past those two at the moment, but that doesn't mean we should release/ditch every other option available. Wouldn't take much for Ferdinand to pick up an injury and then we're left with just Dan Matsuzaka or John White playing out of position.
Apart from the ones who got us promoted from L2 of course. Oh sorry I forgot that day at Wembley was one of your worst.
I've been watching some great stuff lately from the likes of Will (he brings nothing to the team) Atkinson or Adam (league 2 at best) Thompson
We started the season without Ferdinand, Ranger, Fortune, Wordsworth, Timlin and Oxley and Cox needed time to settle. Now I know this improvement has spoiled the end of your year but the league is decided in May not September. Aren't you glad that the people who matter at the club didn't panic and try and sign anyone just to please a few fans.
Remember we had idiots on here telling us how Port Vale have got it right by signing 12 foreigners nice and early in the summer.....Wonder what Bruno Ribeiro is up to at the moment.
Despite the current run, and I for one am pleased about it, it is not clear PB gets the best out of better players. We saw with Hunt previously that better players know their business and get on with it. They were better players to start with and the manager has neither made them or moulded them. What appears clearer is that PB failed to get more from lesser players and the ability to do so is the mark of a good manager.
Unfortunately not an option apparently - King was signed on a season loan...Sokolik...wasn't.I'd rather keep Sokolik and send King back to Swansea...
Too short and lacks the physical presence for me. Macca was a bit more of a unit whereas Tims is pretty slim and even if he is a real warrior I can imagine the likes of Steve Morrison, James Hanson, etc having a field day against someone half as tall and half as wide as them.If Jacob has been offered a contract at Plymouth and a chance to play for a further contract then I believe PB has done the correct action by allowing him to leave (hence no contract offer to confuse issue) and make the most of his career.
I like Jacob and would have kept him, and offered him a contract for next season too; BUT not at top money and with the spoken discussion with him that he was only likely to be a sub/3rd choice.
Finally, could Timlin play at CB? Brentford switched Macca to a CB and he does well enough there.

Spot the SUFC fan who is gutted we are doing well under Phil Brown but has found something out of nowhere to chastise him about :winking:

Ah yes - but there have been a few examples this season of year long loan players going back to their proper club so it is an option if both clubs are in agreement.
And I suspect that is the problem. He IS developing, just not so much in the 1st team - if Swansea are happy with that then that's up to them.
