Breaking News Soares Signs!

Exactly. We're in League 2, not the World Cup. Big target man, some pacy honest wingers, and a ball collector in the middle. And attack!

Agression composure and the ability to keep it simple and have and end product will get us out of this league.

Thats if we start the season ofcourse

OK, so yes we're still in the ****, and there's still the damned emabrago etc. BUT...

**** me this is exciting! 10 players in, in 2 weeks! I've never known anything like it.

If and it's a big IF we survive 2nd Aug with Sturrock still in charge, then it'll be a genuinely exciting season.

To the tune of 'The Animals Went In Two By Two'...

His armband proved he was a blue - Soares, Soares
Paul Sturrock signed him and we said who? - Soares, Soares
We signed the lad on a free,
A hero to us we hope he be,
Lou-ie Soa-res, Southend's number '9' (whatever number he gets - preferably one syllable!)

I have a friend who is an Aldershot fan, and he is really disappointed to see Soares leave them (especially for us haha!) He echos what a few people on the shots forum said, on his day he is a World beater, can have his off days, but even when he does, (much like Gower) still threatens to do something dangerous, which I feel is a great talent to have.

Also I haven't seen it mentioned yet but is he our only current full international, with two appearances for Barbados :) ?

How do you pronouce his name- is it Soars, or is it more like Suarez? I'd reckon the latter but I thought Houghton was pronounced Huff-ton so what the f*** do I know.

Any help appreciated as I'm doing my GCSE Business Studies coursework on this.

We had a very vanilla 4-4-2 at Dartford.

I'm not anticipating much tactical innovation from us this season.

I'm not bothered by a straight up 442. My point is that tactics are moving away from the 'vanilla' 442 and plenty of players are capable of playing in multiple roles (and out of their 'right' position).

I'd totally agree in the WC/Champions League/Premiership/Championship maybe - surely not as much in League 2 yet?

This matter has been troubling me also. I am scared in case pronouncing it wrong during a game leads to me being hounded out of the South Upper for not being knowledgeable enough, much as if I had spelt Paterson wrong on a message board.

Having not been to either of the pre-seasons yet, but having read the reports, this looks like a very good signing. On his day, it sounds like he will be a fantastic little winger just like Hall and Zaboub.

For those that haven't seen him, like myself, what is his pace and end product like?

Pretty quick and loves a shot from distance, is the opinion I had of him after the Derby game.

Hi, Shots fan in peace.

Louie is a useful player to have in the side, really didn't get much of a chance with us as Dillon didn't seem to like him, surprising maybe as he knew him from their Reading days. Very skillful player, quite quick and can hit a ball. Does tend to go missing, but to be fair to him, that was when Dillon insisted in playing him Centre midfield, when he is wide player thats wyh it tended to get noticed. Will do you well and I look forward to seeing him again back at our place next month. He is a really friendly bloke to if you get the chance to talk to him, and for Gods sake don't pronounce his name Sau-rez, he gets the right hump! Bit of a standing joke at our place. Its pronounced Soars. Good luck getting a side together and for the season (except for Aug. 15th)

Nice to get some insight, and welcome to the board.
