Breaking News Soares Signs!

Interesting thread regarding Soares here:

How long for the boo boys to get on his back?

I think its fair to say he is probably playing with better players here and under a better manager with a virtually impeccable record at this level. Aldershot are pretty much all conference players come good for a season or 2.
Saying that wingers by their very nature are inconsistent. Gower had his fair share of critics, JCR etc. Even the likes of Ryan Giggs have suffered abuse at times at Old Trafford. If he can score 9 goals like he did last season he wil be a popular player.

Great news keep them signings coming. Looking forward to seeing these players in the new season (god wiling).

Come on you blue boys.

With a name like Louie Soares as anyone else a bit disappointed he doesn't look like a Miami Vice cocaine baron with a Marco Etcheverry/Lou Diamond Phillips style mullet.
I'm hoping we follow up our interest in his brothers - Weeping and Puss-Ridden.

One year deals are good, if they are ***** we can get rid of them, if they are a good and we get promoted (long way off) they will sign again.
Good old Ron Martin he really knows what he's up to doesn't he?
(Notice there was no option for, if they are ***** and we go down)

Ahh.

I was quite impressed with him against Derby. He looked lively, always wanted the ball and likes to cut inside and have a pop at goal. Can see him scoring a few which will be important this season as we don't really have a 20 goal striker in the squad. Seems to have a bit of an attitude as he moaned and finger-pointed at other players on a few occasions but nevertheless a good signing. Good to have 2 proper wingers in the squad, something we lacked under Tilson. No more playing central midfielders on the wing.

We've got 3 haven't we? Zaaboub?

i was never a fan of strikers doing this either.

why? I thought Bradbury was excellent on the wing for us. Also Revell and Walker looked good out there too. It works for top player and top teams, and so personally I don't have a big issue about it. Also Gower started as a CM and ended up a LW, and I guess that Moussa might end up becoming a winger too... not a traditional winger who hugs the touchline and is all about pace, but a more classy winger who works in tandem with the full-back and provides creativity as part of a solid 4 across the middle.

Personally, I think 'wingers' are undergoing a bit of a revolution in the past few years. We're seeing more teams playing with wingers on the 'wrong' side. We continue to see a front 3 with strikers looking to cut in and exploit the channel between FB and CB.

Also, Spain won the world cup and in general didn't play with any wingers (David Silva and Jesus Navas were impact players). They showed the importance of 2 holding midfield players, with and attacking diamond in front of them. Double holding midfielders allow protection on both flanks, with allows for both full-backs to really attack and provide the team with width.

I hope his anagram of Lou Is So Arse won't be used against him in the future in any derogatory way and he does well here. ;)

We had a very vanilla 4-4-2 at Dartford.

I'm not anticipating much tactical innovation from us this season.
