Ticket News Sittingbourne FC H Isuzu FA Trophy - 1st February 2025 3pm

A taste of what the local papers were saying after the draw was made

"Sittingbourne have been handed a dream draw in the FA Trophy fifth round.

They’re off to National League big guns Southend United on Saturday, February 1, with prize money of £6,000 to the winners. The losers take £1,750.
The Shrimpers, an ex-Football League club, are arguably the biggest name left in the competition, while their Roots Hall ground boasts a 12,400 capacity.

The Brickies are through to the last 16 for the first time in their history after beating Salisbury 2-1 at Woodstock on Saturday.

It was a second successive victory for the Isthmian South East club against National League South opposition, having beaten Enfield 4-2 at home in round three.

Sittingbourne have beaten five higher-division teams to reach this stage, having previously never been beyond round two.

“It’s like a dream that we just don’t want to end,” said manager Ryan Maxwell at the weekend."

We should have done this; we should not have done that.
The trouble is the unknown.
Did the club indeed ask Sittingbourne about extra support above and beyond the 800? Dunno.
Cost of SUFC stewards? Info suggests around £12 an hour over five hours = £60 x 30? = £1,800 or more.
Am guessing there's an agency fee on top? Policing? Dunno.
Cost of opening concessions, and supplies? Dunno. Cost of clearing up after? Dunno
Surely, the club were basing the game on Trophy precedent?
What would be good is Tom explaining the thinking behind the whole game and why the changes.
We'll hopefully make up the shortfall in 'half scarf' sales 👍

Sorry been , and still away in North Yorkshire celebrating my birthday 🎂

Have we opened the West stand and given them the whole of North ?
If so maximises takings and potential gate numbers

I'm not sure what the stewards get paid now but I used to get £22 and a £3 drink food voucher in about 2005. Had to be at the ground at 12.30 for a 3pm and 6pm for a 7.45.
The homework done earlier suggests minimum wage, around £12, but for a minimum five hours.
Not sure about the grub vouchers, lol!

The only reason we have had sudden interest in this game is winning our last 2 league games. If we had lost them both there would be no South open. Plus posts about why I won't be attending a "tin pot cup" game. Rather than club bashing

I was laughed at when suggesting they might bring 500. Sittingbourne never expected 800 but its case of "well if your going so am I" And good luck to them on their day out. If anything the club have done well for such a dynamic situation. Even moving home fans in the North to different block to allow more away fans

So despite all the winging one here, any fan from both teams can be at RH tomorrow.....If they really want to.

The modern day human being is never satisfied. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow and so is the boy. We will be in the North and let's all remember the consortium have never run a football club before and try and be a bit human and kind.

Except Gary Lockett and Tom Lawrence. And I'm sure at least a couple of them will have played Football Manager.
