Shrimperzone Senior Cup

Matt the rules are second XI only, well 7 players have to be second string otherwise you are banned from the cup. It is a reserve team cup. But look up the rules.

Ah, apologies Bob!

Right, the side I have picked has got only 4 first teamers (mostly in midfield... a lack of strength in depth in that area, alas), so I hope I am now complying with the competition rules!

That said, what does "first teamers" mean, exactly? One of my strikers started the season as a first teamer, but he has been in bad form and so has been dropped for the last 3 or 4 games. Does that make him a first teamer?

Hi Bob,

OK... sorry for being a lawyer - but, obviously, I don't want to fall foul of the rules here:

<span style='color:blue'>&quot;...if a player has played in the last two league matches he will be deemed part of the first team.&quot;</span>

I hope I am correct in presuming that &quot;if a player has played in the last two league matches&quot; means &quot;if a player has started both of the last two league matches&quot;.

Of course, it could mean &quot;if a player has featured in either of the last two league matches&quot;.

If that is what the rule is supposed to mean, could you let me know, as I will have to tinker with my line-up.

Cheers,

Matt

It is supposed to mean &#39;if a player has started both of the last two league matches&#39;

I hope that clears that up for you.

Challenged Toddy- and picked my reserve side. New signing Scholz going straight in at centre-back and a couple of youths making their debuts.

It does Bob, thanks&#33;

The side I&#39;ve picked is, therefore, Cup compliant&#33;

Due to some reason beyond my comprehension I ended up playing too many first XI players thus meaning Southend United FC will progress.........Ho hum

I will have to discuss with Bob C what happened. I didnt actually expect to play at all- as it hadn&#39;t been arranged before half 5, so my lineup was my last one (i.e. 1st team).

Does this leave the path clear for the mighty Southend United Football Club now that GNH United are out... and FC Gambero, as it happens?&#33;

6-1 to the Super-Blues...

So, have Billericay Blue (SOUTHEND UTD) and Rayleigh_Blue (Rayleigh_Shrimpers) played their game yet?

If so, which one of them am I supposed to be facing next week?

It&#39;s just that I&#39;ve been challenged to play an international friendly, and I want to know whether I should take up the offer, or whether instead I should decline it and play in the Shrimperzone Cup&#33;

Help please (Chairman Bob?)&#33;

Matt

Any news on friendlies for next week? Billericay_Blue / Rayleigh_Blue / Chairman Bob - let me know!

And, at last, I've bought a young midfielder (at midnight, last night)!

biggrin.gif

I was looking for a midfielder with at least solid playmaking who was no older than 20 (i.e. with the potential to train up and become excellent in time).

Anyhow, I've finally found one! As usual, I had to pay massively over the odds for him - £116K when his stated value was only (supposedly) £40K, although I am reassured that:

1. His current form is weak, thus depressing his true value once his form improves.

2. He's Belgian, so bringing him back much closer to home from Argentina has surely got to be a good thing?!

3. (Best of all) As for his other attributes, I'm particularly chuffed that he's already excellent for set pieces.

Still - I've put myself in a spot of debt (only £20K, though - and that's only down to the lack of a home fixture this week) in order to get him - so if anyone is looking for some good players (I'm actually selling a very handy defender - see below), let me know, as I'm selling a couple to raise some cash!

Taking on the league leaders on Saturday... here's hoping that with my new midfield (all three Inner Midfielders have a "solid" rating for playmaking; and my wingers have a "solid" rating for wing-play) I might just cause a small upset...

- - - -

The player I'm selling is:

David Landen (5899844)
26 years, weak form, healthy
A pleasant guy who is tranquil and dishonest.
Has poor experience and weak leadership abilities.

Speciality: Quick

Nationality: England
Assessed value: 56 667 £
Wage: 760 £/week
Owner: Southend United Football Club
Warnings: 0

Stamina: excellent Goaltending: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: weak
Winger: inadequate Defending: passable
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: passable

Career Goals: 8
Career Hattricks: 1
League goals this season: 0
Cup goals this season: 0

He's listed as a Central Defender (although he could also play wing-back) and he's on sale for £50K at the moment (although, hopefully, I'll get a bit more for him - I paid £66K for him!).

If you're wondering why I'm selling him, it's because I've switched to a 3-5-2 formation, so I need fewer defenders. I also bought a 23 yr-old defender in the summer with a solid defending rating, so Landen isn't going to shift him (Pedro!) out of the side...

Well, he's now been sold - for £50K. Bit of a bargain, I reckon.

Still, as manager of Southend United, I am now dancing a jig! Just promoted a youth team goalie... and he's a "solid" at goalkeeping!!

By the way, Chairman Bob - what's the latest with my Shrimperzone Cup game... who am I supposed to be playing?

Matt

The mighty Southend United Football Club go marching on... SUFC 4 - 1 Rayleigh Shrimpers... Come on&#33;&#33;&#33;

biggrin.gif

Chairman Bob - apologies for not providing it earlier; the Match ID for the game was: 13788501

Who do I meet now in the Shrimperzone Cup final - GNH United or Shrimperzone FC? And must I still play my 2nd XI, even in the final?&#33;

Matt

Matt - Sorry for the delay in contacting you but I have been very busy with work, SZFC and producing a panto with my am-dram group. Due to people not following the rules or not bothering to carry on playing, this cup has been a bit of an administrative nightmare.

But well done for reaching the final - you should win as Napster has managed to fluke it there by getting the most byes in the competition

I have taken great care in choosing my side. I may win yet. Would be awful to get knocked out now.

Hmm... that sounds like a challenge to me&#33; I had picked a completely 2nd XI... may have to draft in some first-teamers now...

Not that I'm being over-confident, but has anyone got any silver polish...?
