Breaking News Shrimpers Sign GK Jeacock on Loan

This is what Lincoln said when signing him in the summer.

3 July 2024
Lincoln have signed former Birmingham City goalkeeper Zach Jeacock on a free transfer.

Jeacock made his senior Birmingham debut in a 1-0 Championship win over Brentford in September 2020.
His most recent appearance for Blues came in April 2022, after which he had loan spells with Salford and non-league Gloucester before being released earlier this year.
"We have signed Zach because we see him as a potential future No.1 goalkeeper," said director of football Jez George.
"Zach will train with us throughout pre-season and then we will find a loan that can provide him with a platform to play 40+ games at the best possible level."

I think he’s been brought in to give Colin a break, as well as competition. Sometimes it looks as if Colin is a bit mentally tired, and may need a rest. He’ll be a good keeper, but we don’t want to burn him out.

Been in the pipeline for a while this one...

Zach Jeacock has joined Vanarama National League side Southend United on loan until January.

Jeacock joined the Imps from Birmingham City in the summer and has made four appearances, including two in Sky Bet League One, keeping a clean sheet against Wigan.

City’s director of football Jez George said: "The plan when we signed Zach was always for him to go out on loan to get games. Through no fault of his own, this has been delayed three times due to an injury to Jamie Pardington in pre-season, George Wickens coming off with a head injury at Peterborough and then Zach himself having to go through a concussion protocol. We are delighted that Southend have waited for Zach and that he can finally get going to fight for a place in their starting XI.

“We have protection in this agreement to cover every possible scenario in our goalkeeping department for the duration of the loan so this is a win/win. Zach is an extremely talented young goalkeeper, who we signed as ‘one for the future’, and we look forward to monitoring his progress over the next three months before reviewing the situation in January. Southend United are a massive club at their level, with a big fanbase and high expectations, so it is a brilliant opportunity for Zach."

And a big welcome to Zach.

Collin is still quite young - he has, in overall terms, done very well. [hand claps]

I have no knowledge of this goalie - himself still only 23 - but I would expect him to play. Not to dent Collin's confidence but to just give him a little bit of time to be more "relaxed" in and around match day & to refresh from there.

I hope that makes some sense .............. just a point of view of course.

Does sound like he is coming in expecting to be playing, Colin has played a hell of alot of games and mat do him good to be rested for a while, just hope it doesn't knock Colin to much

I suspect Collin is the more experienced keeper - looks like Zach has played a handful of games at this or higher level, and about 40 games for Gloucester. If I were Collin I'd be pretty ****ed off he got in starting 11 straight away

Explains Hillson being a stop gap as well. When things don't quite make sense often means we don't have complete information
Yes - we have clearly been in for him since the summer, but Lincoln weren’t ready for the deal.
They’ll want him to play - so either he’ll start, or he’ll go back fairly quickly.
We’ve got him until Jan, so either Collin will have got himself sorted by then, or I’d imagine we’d try and put him out on loan too - little benefit to him sitting on our bench for any long period of time.
