On the subject of strikers...what's that Lee Barnard chap from Spurs upto nowadays?

haha... probably scoring lots more in the reserves but still not making the 1st team. we get linked with him so often, i wonder why he has never actually signed (on loan)!?

I think you're right about JCR (if he's fit) but I'd be surprised if Harrold doesn't start upfront with one of MacDonald, Paynter or Hooper.

Yeah I can't see Black being picked ahead of JCR. I'm quite surprised nobody else has shared my worry about the lack of tracking back and width with both Gower and Black in the same side. Not to mention the fact JCR is our only player (well now barring Gilbert) with any pace.

Without a new striker I'd start with Paynter and MacDonald against Orient but you can't help but feel Tilly will want to reward Harrold for his early pre season goals.

I'm just amazed that we have picked up a DECENT loan signing. Why, oh why couldn't we have done something like this last season when we only had about 16 players at the most crucial part of the season.

My post seems so "i know something" ... which really isn't like me at all.. so apologies all round, i'll try to explain without giving the player (he was just out and about, not on club business)

My dad was speaking to a player at the weekend and this is what he said, he didn't name the striker but said it was almost a done deal.. on his own fitness he said "i just can't get there" (meaning full fitness) and the gaffer is working on things with Bailey and Black

On paper appears to be a great signing. But what is the point of Che Wilson being at the club ? If were not prepard to use him, get rid.

Exactly what I was thinking. Good signing but we now have 4 players who can play at right-back. I can see it being another action-less season for Che, unless Hammell gets a long term injury god forbid.

We do need cover at left back, though - so it's worth hanging onto Cheese, isn't it? Top work by the club for getting Gilbert, though!

Hunt is a better left-back than Wilson, as proved by last season.

If we could get the tall centre-half we desperately need, Barrett can also cover left-back better than Ehc Nosliw.

I cant see McCormack losing out based solely on what I saw against West Ham.

McCormack looked great when he came on and Bailey looked woeful.

I hope Bailey will be a good player for us but based on performance McCormack should be starting for now.

If theres a fitness issue then that would of course change it...

Agreed, if McCormack is fit (and whilst I wasn't at West Ham he certainly looked fit against Dagenham where he covered just about every blade of grass on the pitch) then I'm sure he'll play. And quite rightly. He should probably be the first name on the teamsheet these days.
