Shrimpers sign Gilbert

wow! thought he was great when i saw him - and on the tele - quick and athletic.

the right flank is looking pretty impressive for league one isn't it!
black and gilbert, with jcr and francis(when fit)

On paper appears to be a great signing. But what is the point of Che Wilson being at the club ? If were not prepard to use him, get rid.

I was very impressed with him when he played for Cardiff last season. I think he is a top, top player. A great signing by Tilly!!!

Am I missing something here??

Is this really the same Kerrea Gilbert that played for Cardiff City when they thumped us 3-0 at Roots Hall???

Coz I remember being at the game with my old man we both thought that he was their worst player on the day, he was very poor. I remember he was pretty quick but couldn't pass or cross the ball for toffee. Hopefully that was just an off day, any signing we make at the mo is a good one if you ask me, we need some good back up.

Well now Tilly has got his foot in the door at The Emirates, maybe a swoop for a young striker could also be on the cards?

Rhys Murphy maybe?

Personally I reckon we have a better team than last year now, bar Freddy of course

i completely agree

i must admit, despite the fact we still need a good quality striker, i am astounded my the general negatvity on this board at the moment. our squad is shaping up really nicely.

our midfield is the strongest its EVER been under tilson and we have back up for every position. We have a winger(gower) who scored 10 goals in the championship last year, still have our captain that won player of the season, a winger in black who looks like he could be a little star for us, macca who we all know is good, not to mention the likes of baily and JCR...

The likes of forest and swansea have made some signings that have been deemed 'high profile' - but come on, i look at thier squads and i think that we ar up there in terms of quality(especially in midfield).

I know its on the tip of everybody's tongue, but if only we had spark up front....thats the missing link, and if we do manage to get somebody in, then this COULD be a succesful season. Lets just comfort ourselves by looking at the sqaud that won us promotion to the championship - bar freddy and goater, this side ouzes quality compared to then

From what I've seen of Gilbert, he looks a class act and I'm thrilled we've got someone of his calibre. As we've signed him until the end of January at least, I wonder if it means Tilly is considering using Simon Francis (when he returns from injury) at centre-half? I haven't seen him play there but I remember him getting rave reviews - both from fans and Tilly himself - when he switched to that position during one of the pre-season friendlies last summer. I know the management want a bit more height in that department and Francis certainly fits the bill there. Obviously he needs to up his concentration levels but otherwise he has all the right attributes, in my opinion.
