Quote[/b] (D62SUBOY @ Aug. 30 2006,07:40)]No....but on the whole judicial front I'd go for the following

Child rapists/murderers.
Life. ie meaning you take your last breath locked away in a 6 x 6 cell, no window, no assosiation with other inmates, no access to the outside world....in other words a social and mental death without actually taking the life. Sod human rights and reabilitation.

Pre-meditated murder.
Life. as above but with social inclusion and a certain amount everyday living 'perks'.

Adult rape.
Life. as above but with chemical castration.

For all other offences. (excluding motoring)
Three stikes and your out!..10 years...simple as that.

If this means building 20 new 5,000 inmate secure prisons then so be it.

Unfortunately none of the above will ever happen in my lifetime due the politically correct, Guardian reading, nanny run  state we find ouselves living in:angry:
Whilst I agree with your principles here its the cost that makes me think death is the way to go.

For example a child murderer you are saying lock up for life but they are going to need to be feed water clothed etc.

If the rapist was say 30 and lived to 75 then the tax payer would have to cover the costs of him/her for 45 years. Where as a lethal injection and a quick burial would cost almost nil.

These sort of people lose all right as soon as they offend.

Bearing in mind that 'retribution' for the victim is (or rather used to be) part of the sentence as well , then I think the victim or their relatives should decide..
That way if, for example, some scumbag breaks into your Mum's house and stabs her whilst trying to escape and she dies.. You can think to yourself, two wrongs dont make a right and have the Crimbo sent to jail..
