Both goals according to the BBC live commentary came from shots within the 6 yard box, can you see Southend providing service so Lee can poach goals from close range?

There were several goal poaching opportunities today, trouble was they mostly fell to Adam Thompson, who is assuredly NOT a goal poacher or an out of sorts Barry Corr.

Exactly my point, 3 goals in 2 - it's the same League - in today's set up, which I liked, feel sure Barney would have thrived.

Yes, Barney is a poacher in the Gary Lineker style - play him with Jack Payne behind with Worrall & Lenny driving forward from midfield. Just can't see PB swallowing his pride though unfortunately - our loss & I fear Stevenage's gain :'(

This. 100%. I read so many posts here talking about us needing a striker. We need to create chances that a striker can consistently score.

Exactly. We did today, can't help but feel Barney would have scored for us today how we played.

Couldn't score against Maidstone United of the Ryman whatever league though, could he?[/QU

Sorry?
are you saying a striker must score in every game to be considered 'worthy'?
If that's what you expect, best get yourself a season ticket at Barca to watch Mr Messi - because you won't see that in League 2 or any other League inc. the Premier - just ask Mr Van Gaal/Wenger/Rogers etc

He's doing well which is good whatever we decide to do with him. If rumour is to be believed he is the highest earner here so even if he is not for Phil, stevenage or someone else will probably take him off our hands on his full wages, meaning no pay off for us and freed up wages. I'm undecided, he's done everything right so far though

Better he goes to Stevenage gets 4/5 goals in as many games playing the full 90 then back to us to start a few as well.
Barry will have started a few himself by then and tbh not sure Barry with his niggles is best used for more than 30 or so games to get the best out of him.

My issue is that he didn't need to go to Stevenage to gain goals/confidence.

Today just typified our season - dominate possession, territory and chances, and we only manage to find the net once. It's a no brainer that a natural finisher like Barney would have started to score regularly in a team which creates as much as we do. Yes, it's great that he's notched 3 goals in 2 games, but i'd have preferred it if he was doing that for us!

To answer the question, unless Brown is going to reveal a new goal machine in our midst, then he HAS to return!

I think most people have summed it up well. Barnard would be a great goal scoring threat in the right formation but we
never play the right formation so whats the point!

Agreed. I would love him to come back and score goals but under our current system with 1 up he won't. Either Brown goes or Barnard does, I know which one I'd prefer but I fear the opposite sadly

Not so stupid. He has scored a few goals now and got some confidence. Smart move in reality. Hopefully he will come back, score plenty for us and prove me wrong. Id be chuffed if hew does

And our current strikers are scoring for fun...not...and our most experienced striker is sent out to a rival on loan, I repeat my statement, stupid loan!

He was devoid of confidence and wasn't scoring when playing. For me, it was the right decision. Hope he comes back and starts scoring for us. Had he not gone, we would still be playing him and him not scoring
