The forum comments all come from twitter- the same twitter that has told various offers first, second and third had been accepted. I don't think Lenny will submit a transfer request- he might say he would like to play in the Championship and ask the club to accept a reasonable offer, however, I don't think an offer that is sensible is looking likely and Lenny is a good pro who though disappointed will get on and give his all. If we were turning down £1m offers then his attitude might be different.

If he is sensible, and he is, he will have worked out that the level of offers indicates clubs who will be buying him as cover rather than stating every week as with us.

Until CP tells us he has asked to leave I would be pretty confident its nonsense. More likely there are some contract negotiations that have a pretty wide gap under way- RM has in the past tried to use a rather nice signing on fee to keep with in the wage structure- I don't think its beyond possibility for us to get him to extend.

HITC Sport understands Southend star Leonard is unhappy that the club have rejected bids for him from Sheffield United and Bolton Wanderers.
Southend United ace Ryan Leonard is unhappy with the club turning down offers for him and has informed the club he wants to move on, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Sheffield United and Bolton Wanderers are both chasing Leonard and have seen offers for the midfielder rejected by Southend with the club claiming the player is not for sale.

Newly promoted Championship duo Sheffield United and Millwall have made sizeable offers for Leonard, but the bids have been rejected out of hand by Southend.

Southend's stance has upset Leonard with the player disappointed that the club have gone back on a promise to let him move on if they did not win promotion from League One last season.
Leonard has reiterated his desire to leave to Shrimpers manager Phil Brown and chairman Ron Martin and he is considering what action to take next.
Southend took up the option to extend Leonard's contract at the end of the season, but the player is unlikely to sign a longer deal that the club plan to offer him.
Leonard is understood to be keen on a move away from Southend this summer as he wants to play at the highest level possible and had hoped that the club would not stand in his way of playing in the Championship.

and that's when I stopped reading

Can assure you Lenny wants the move.

I want lots of things to and have learnt you don't always get them- he would probably like to go to Real Madrid too. But he has a years contract to go (a contract he signed) and unless someone makes an offer Ron will accept he goes nowhere. And he's been here long enough to know Ron understand that.

if Ron thinks Lenny was getting his agent to agitate knowing Ron he will add another £100k on the price 'for his trouble'- and any move become less not more likely.

From the horses mouth?

I would've want Lenny having to a season when his hearts not it in, and potentially resenting the club.

I would like to believe Lenny is a good pro who won't sulk, down tools etc- reputations are quick to go and he might end up achieving his dream move to Bury..

And I wouldn't want the club selling him on the cheap 'because he wants to move' - he's under contract and has to respect the clubs decision

Agreed. I can't imagine Lenny doing a Nicky Bailey. If he's playing for Southend next season I'm convinced he'll give 100%.
In fairness to bailey he missed one match because " his head wasn't right " he then played his final match and was man of match by a country mile.

if only he hadn't done that, we could have just tempered the good times

Im sure if the offers were right and not just petty like im sure in my mind they are, clubs like Millwall, Sheff Utd and Bolton wanting a young good player on the cheap, then RM would let him go. Lenny and his agent also have to think that SUFC is the club that took him on and helped him get to where he is now ,after Plymouth released him as a 19 year old. Yes he has been a good loyal servant to the club , but in all fairness he is still young so therefore SUFC deserve good compensation, not to be taken for granted by other clubs who believe they can get him cheap.

Lenny is a person like all of us...but a footballer.
Imagine any of you working for a decent company and excelling at your job. A "bigger, better" company offer you a superior position with a substantial pay rise and better prospects?? This is your career and this is an opportunity to go to another level.
Your present employer and the contract you signed could scupper it all and leave you where you are. No career development. How would you feel?

Don't know about you, but at my job in London, should i want to move I need to give 3 months notice period - that's part of my contract which I was aware of before i signed it.

If Leonard is unhappy at being held to the terms of the agreement he signed, then he should never have agreed to it.

Footballers, and more so their agents, have way too much power these days.

Ron is well within his rights to hold Lenny to the terms.
