Hope Norman is ok.. But you can argue that the Police should slow the crowds for 20 minutes so that the traffic can get through OK.. and everyone can stick to the pavements..
Why cant people just walk on the pavement? its not that hard is it? If you walk in the road then you should watch out for cars...No, has to be traffic stopped for the crowds, and that includes people that park in that road itself, managed properly it would need only about 15 minutes.

The pavements aren't particularly wide, are very uneven, have trees planted along the edge of them, and on Saturday there was a motorbike parked in the middle of the one on the west side of the road!
The street lighting is very bad along there too.The pavements aren't particularly wide, are very uneven, have trees planted along the edge of them, and on Saturday there was a motorbike parked in the middle of the one on the west side of the road!
So stop look to see if there are any cars and then cross.
All I'm saying is that theres no need to close a road when there isn't that many people walking through it. A man gets hit by a car and everyone goes on about how the cars shouldn't be there not how people should'nt be on the road.
And there's usually plenty of poo to dodge so the road is actually a better place to walk! I know what you're getting at Josh, but for the sake of 10 minutes or so it would just be so much safer for everyone if the only traffic permitted was emergency services.
Glad to hear you are OK Norman apart from the bumps and bruses, and hope to see you back in the West soon.
I also think the club/police should stop the traffic in Shakespeare Drive for a couple of minutes after each home game until the bulk of the crowd has exited the stadium. Fortunately as Shakespeare Drive is a oneway street, it would only need one or two people stratigicly placed at the bottom of the road, or just north of the West Stand exit to hold up the traffic, enabling all the supporters to exit safely.
I think Norman was extremely lucky no to break anything, or heaven forbid something more serious. Perhaps the club could use some of the stewards (with Police approval) in this major Health and Safety issue?
I dont get why people drive down there around that time!! theres other roads that can get you to the same place off of fairfax drive - you have to be a ****ing moomin to think that it will be a nice clear route at 4.45pm.
Or you could just live there?
As someone who exits from Shakespeare Drive by car I find this a bit bollocks. If you stick to the path and dont walk in the road that is designed for cars then you dont have any issues. If you want to cross look both ways and remember you highway code.
No need for crossing guards, lollipop men or underpasses - simple common sense.
