I believe this the chap that sits near us in the west. Very nice chap and in his 90s.
Hope he is ok.

it didn't seem to be anything major mate, he didn't bang his head or nothing just hurt his left ankle.

My work mate lives down Shakespeare Drive! Did you see what he looked like?

yes I know its taken a while

I saw the guy on the floor getting attention from a passer by who seemed like she knew what she was doing. He didn't seem in terrific pain and was talking, so hopefully nothing bad.

Why can't they shut the road for 10 minutes after the game ? If I get some arsehole tooting I make a point of staying in the road and walking just that little bit slower. 3,000 fans coming out of the ground at the same time. Where are we supposed to walk ?

On the pavement, in a quiet and orderly manner ;)

I think this is the guy Em was telling me about Sat! She said she sat him up against the wall and some older woman came over and took control as she knew what she was doing ...

Does this happen a lot - Em moving aside to let an older woman take charge who knows what she is doing.... COUGAR

good point about closing the road for 10 minutes or so. I used to make a point of walking in front of any cars that would toot people out of the way until i started taking kids with me, now i make them do it ;). if i ever get picked up i tell the other half not to meet us at shakespeare but somewhere else surely people know the road is going to be heaving with people.

I also think that there should be a steward or a policeman out on shakespeare drive after the game. The amount of fans pouring onto one street, means that incidents will happen.

I saw it happen, the old man was walking around a car that was parked on the yellow lines out side the west, the dark blue sports car tried to squeeze past and knocked him over then kept going and ended up on his left foot, we then shouted at the driver to move back but all he did was to smile untill he relised what he had done. I have said for many a year that the road should be shut for 20 minutes after a game, how many times do we see mums parked outside on the yellows which make it hard to get out, come on sufc get the road shut after a game before it happens again

Don't think it's down to the club, surely that's a police decision?

it must be down to the club to ask the police or even get in touch with our MP to get the road shut for a few minutes after the game

Just for Info, Norman is ok. My dad phoned him and nothing is broken but can't walk on it at the moment. Just a bit of feet up time.
Hopefully will be back at the Hall as soon as possible.

all those out of work lolipop men would come in handy for saturdays now huh?

dont you just hate it when you see them on pelican crossing's and pushing the button instead of holding the stick - what is the world coming too :)

Glad to hear you are OK Norman apart from the bumps and bruses, and hope to see you back in the West soon.

I also think the club/police should stop the traffic in Shakespeare Drive for a couple of minutes after each home game until the bulk of the crowd has exited the stadium. Fortunately as Shakespeare Drive is a oneway street, it would only need one or two people stratigicly placed at the bottom of the road, or just north of the West Stand exit to hold up the traffic, enabling all the supporters to exit safely.

I think Norman was extremely lucky no to break anything, or heaven forbid something more serious. Perhaps the club could use some of the stewards (with Police approval) in this major Health and Safety issue?
