Seasons Over Just Playing It Out

Couldn't agree more...

Also, the blue voice were constantly behind the team throughout the 1st half and most of the 2nd. The chants against the team were not started by us but I fully understand why they started. It was sheer frustration. How else can we convey our frustrations. We can't exactly write the players a letter. And 1 point from a possible 15 is, in my opinion, relegation form. We are a big club in this division! A team with plans for a 22,000 seater stadium is a big club!

I agree the Blue Voice did well today in the first half and for some of the second but they were drowned out by the boos and stupid chants by some so-called "supporters" for the last twenty minutes.

That was exactly the time to be encouraging the players not calling them names and chanting Darryl's name to Steve Collis was out of order. I thought he played well today and he made a cracking save in the first half.

I agree we should be allowed our opinion but booing the team every time they get the ball is just not support in my book. I have to say I now know exactly what Glasgow SUFC meant now when he posted his disgust on a similar theme for the Doncaster game.

This has got to be one of the most pathetic posts I have read!!
There are loads of available Mangers that could do a better job Newall / Allen etc.

Stop looking in the past Tilson WAS a decent Manager but has he seriously improved in the past 2 years? Has he gained any knowledge from the Championship? He is tactically cr*p. Has spent poorly in the transfer market and has about as much carisma as Glen Roeder. Out team are nowhere near as good as two seasons ago. Players have lost form ie Maher, Flavs, Barrett and Gower. We have lost Eastwood, Gray etc and have been replaced with ****e.

Tilson did extreamly well for a couple of seasons but for whatever reason is no longer up for the job. There are plenty of Mangers that become stale and need a new challenge. Tilson sorry but your time is up!!!

I very much doubt that Newall would look at us twice. And Martin Allen? The manager who has NEVER EVER got a team promoted? Who has walked away from every job he's had after barely a season? The only reason people like him is because he SHOUTS A LOT.

That truly would be a pathetic appointment.

Can't see why we would be incapable of attracting a frankly average Champ/League 1 manager like Mike Newell...he has hardly been inundated with offers since his 'bung' revelations has he!

In all honesty, the manager we have at the moment will not be bettered by what is currently available so this is a pointless discussion!

The Blue Voice did well today until the boos started, it seemed like some people just targeted players for no real reason eg Collis. We were awful today, hopefully we beat daggers then get some confidence in the team and go on a run. I think we need to bring in a couple of players in this window but it won't be easy

The season isnt over we are just on a bad run. I think we all reaslie now that automatic promotion isnt going to happen or even play offs now looks unlikely but its not the end of the world. A string of wins and we could be back in play off contention but apart from that I doubt this year will anything more than to settle and consolidate.

well today confirmed what we knew deep down that the season is over, and probably has been for a while. the only goal now is to get the 20 points needed to stay up. the team on paper is a very poor one. and is quite average, interesting to see the crowd attendance today or lack of it.

people are not stupid the once a year fans would expect to have come to be entertained, would you truly want to take your relatives to that today

perhaps there should be a shake up on the managerial front . as for my comments regarding hunt I rest my case

the club is in financial dodo no money to bring any players in it does look very bleak. or will some of you idiots on here, come out with your usual cr..p

can we stay up??

I reckon we've got a pretty good chance...

To be fair on the 1st of January we weren't very good at all. It was the month of January, and the transfers in it, that have kickstarted our season.

Thats true, but we also werent lying inthe bottom third either so all the defeatist talk was a bit over the top....

Haha, righto....

Even then that was ridiculous.

Dont you just love it when words come back to bit you. Tilson and brush got us through two divisions, took us down and could possibly get us back into the championship at the first attempt. Nottingham forest former European Cup holders with an average crowd of 20000 have been in this league for 3 years and are still struggling to get out of it.

Please let this sort of thread be a lesson people, just because we lose a few games that really is not a reason to sack our most successful manager, he is also the best manager for SUFC for as long as he wants, there is no one else I would want managing our club....period. It was a blip people keep the faith

I think this was the feeling shared by the majority, it was only a very small minority who voiced this opinion, and were, in the main, put quite firmly in their place.

I love this thread! The difference between the pessimism of the Xmas period and the overwhelming optimism of the last few weeks is great to see and just goes to show why you don't write off a season until the end. Yes, it was looking pretty grim in December and early January but Tilly was able to pull it out of the bag in the January window and we have put in a string of great performances just when it was required. We still have it all to play for over the next few weeks.

UTB!

I admit what I wrote in January was wrong but at the time we were ****e!
Tilson's tactics in November / December were poor I was not the only one to post this out. Also a number of players were not playing to their potential.

As a supporter that has spent thousands of pounds seeing Southend over 25 years I am entitled to my opinions. If Shrimperzone is a forum where only positive comments are allowed then what is the point in posting? Also hindsight is a wonderful thing are you telling me that in the 5000 post you have previously posted nothing has come back to haunt you??

For what it is worth I fully support Tilson and he has turned things around brilliantly since January. I however Support Southend and its interests first not any one individual!

My opinion has always been since the start of the season that anything less than the play offs would be disapointing. I therefore applaud Tilson for (almost) getting us there.

I do not post here often because I do have a life outside Shrimperzone (unlike you and Leeboy etc) I will try to post write positive and hopefully not too many negative posts in future.

FF, even if you had only spent £10 in the last 25 years you'd still be entitled to your opinion. Everyone is. I think the point of this is to point out that it was rather short sighted, and good on you for admitting it was wrong. However, my question is this, will you learn from it, or will you start calling for Tilson to resign should we fail in the playoffs, or have a poor start next season (whatever division we're in)?
