And, reading Sean's words, he uses the terms "I, me, and actually", does this not maybe suggest that HIS agent was appraised and also, unless he went to the back of beyond bongo bongo land he would have been fully mobiled up.
Poor, poor statement Sean!
Why didn't he report back for training? or make enquires himself, for himself .

Clohessy : Blues did not talk about deal.

So it seems a war of words is kinda breaking out.

Sean Clohessy says no talks were held with Southend about a new deal but the Club say this wasn't the case.

What do you think?

Double it plus a bit! :raspberry:

Mr OBL will be quite pleased about that!

Seems bizarre the the POTS wouldn't be spoken to in regards to a new contract.
Don't forget Phil Brown's close relationship with Plankinson. It was quite possible that John White was already lined up to come in, with the captaincy as an additional "carrot", and that Sean was simply not wanted.

CO now tweeted to say club deny this and contract WAS offered.

Who do we believe?!

It is possible that they're both right. Sean is saying the club didn't speak to him. That may be right, they probably spoke to his agent. And because the club made an offer to his agent they are also right.

Blimey. Talk about putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 451,416,514,816,453,549,874,641,564,684,354,564,654,564.

Sean Clohessy claims Southend United did not discuss new contract with him, but club

SEAN Clohessy has claimed he was not contacted by Southend United to discuss a new contract with the new club.

Oooh eeeh. That sounds all a bit odd.

It makes an interesting read but I feel there must be a bit more to the story. Clash of personalities? Brown stamping his authority? Clohessy not looking good in the new away kit being chosen?

I wonder whether The Evening Echo can get Phillip Brown to comment at some point.

Pre-season training started on 24th June, and as players are under contract until the end of June, if there was even a hint of re-signing for blues then Sean should have reported fit and ready for action. The fact that he did not means that he had no intention of re-signing for us and was expecting a deal elsewhere.

His comments about John White signing are a smokescreen as White didn't sign for us until the end of that week.

Sounds like sour grapes to me because the offers he thought would flood in never materialised.

He's shown himself up as unprofessional here (even more so because he's now crying to the press about it) and if I were him I'd also sack his agent!

If he didn't show up on the first day of pre-season then we were right to pursue other options IMHO and have secured a very good replacement in John White.

This seems to be a stand or twist situation, which way do I play it. My guess is he had some advise that may have seemed to be more attractive than what may or may not have been on the table as options. As it seems it did not play out and now he's scratching around 2 weeks in to the season.

Life choice is a tricky thing, some you get right some you get wrong, this may be one that been got wrong.

Well put, exactly what I wanted to say but couldn't make it make sense so gave up!

Had to double check that as seemed to early but you are correct. Theres an echo interview on that date where PB said he had even written to him asking him if he wanted to train.

Think Sean was hoping for a move here and shot him in the foot and may well have stayed if he knew where he would end up. Thats the risk you take I guess...

Sour grapes from Clohessy, between him and his agent they ****ed up. Got greedy, no one wanted to pay his demands then blames Southend. Why didnt he turn back up for training when it started....because he was not intending to play for us.

He may have been expecting a deal elsewhere but it doesn't sound as if the club reached out to him. Forget his agent, why didn't the manager ring him up and say "Sean, c'mon we need you to agree the new contract. I'm building great things here at this club, we're going to get a new stadium - stop laughing - and I need you to be part of it as I want to build around your excellent previous three seasons at the club. Together we can get this club promoted and put you in the shop window in League One."

Brown seems to have accepted that the likes of Tomlin, Clohessy etc were leaving and didn't put up a fight. I suspect Brown wanted turnover in the squad so he could stamp his authority on it, so this was a mutual thing and the only thing being battled for is the PR.

As for White's signing not being until the end of the first week, when do you think that Brown was first tapping him up? Do you think that White accepted the first offer put in front of him or that there were negotiations involved that took some time?
