Yeah but in Scotland, no thanks. I just wouldn't class this as a step up to be honest.

I dunno what point you're trying to make? Kilmarnock is a ******** but it's 30mins from Glasgow which is a really nice city. If he didn't have many options, then there's worse places to head to in England, and at least in the SPL he'll be in a bigger league than L1, and will get the chance to show what he can do.

In the end Sean wasn't really looking for a step up, because he left and didn't get a dream move and so was just looking for a paying job. He had to go with whoever wanted him... when he left we moved on and we couldn't take him back because we replaced him with Captain John White.

Glasgow is a really nice city????. Your aspirations are pathetic man!
The days of Glasgow being a grimy set of docks and junkie-filled highrise flats are long gone. Spent a bit of time there with work and have friends up there - it's a quality city, one of my favourites in the UK. The West End is up there as one of the best inner-city places to live in the UK.

The downside is that **** Interpol/Glasgow Shrimper.

Who now lives in Suffolk! :hilarious:

Only ever been to Glasgow for THAT TV programme, thought it was alright what I saw, though you drive through some pretty rough bits leaving the airport. Certainly where we stayed was nice, and the tapas restaurant we ate in was good too.

Clohessy on contract talks with Blues: “I never actually heard from anyone at Southend & no-one ever spoke to me."

Clohessy: "I went on holiday and by the time I came back the club had signed John White as a replacement for me."

Player leaving club has a pop shocker! If he had a good offer from another club in a higher division, he wouldn't of given two hoots for what we had to offer!

Oh dear! Sorry Sean but on reflection, it may have been an idea to sort your contract out before going on holiday. I'm sure that you didn't expect for us to wait for you to return from your hols, sign up with another club and leave us in the lurch. Unless of course you had informed PB and he was agreeable to wait for your return (that of course would be another matter), I don't have a great deal of sympathy. I suppose we shall have to wait for the full interview in tomorrews Echo, to see.

I'm with you Yogi. Agree with all that.

Totally agree with you also. The bloke is an idiot he has really messed up. Such a shame, he won't choose a holiday over a contract again. Maybe that's why he dropped into non league last time round.

John White any day, bye Sean... good business all round barring for Sean

Not for me Clohessey was quality for us.

White looks a good replacement but all to prove still (as with any new player).

Id rather Sean hadnt left still, but it looks like a total screw up, and on this occassion I side with the club. Just going on holiday without knowing if you were getting a contract doesnt add up when everyone wanted him to stay.

It's pretty obvious that both sides wanted to move in different directions.

Brown wanted to bring his own man in as captain and Clohessy wanted to move on.

Tomlin and Clohessy both had deals on the table and walked away. Sean's comments sound like b******s to me and I think he might be withholding the truth a bit. Wouldn't surprise me if the true story was something along the lines of: we make him a contract offer verbally and in writing and his greedy agent declined both (most likely without Sean's knowledge whilst he's on holiday) maybe wanting more money or another club. We can't afford to pay him what his agent is requesting, sign John White and Sean joins the football scrapheap.

Whatever happened, he's been very very badly advised and might want to seek alternative representation as his current agent seems to have made a rod for his own back.

Personally, this is how I see it:

Clohessy (no doubt inspired by his agent) had his head turned by speculation linking him with other clubs and of course with that - more money.

Southend should have sorted the new contract out between Xmas and end of the season

Despite the two parties saying different things, I can't and won't believe that the chairman, chief exec and manager would allow or want Clohessy to leave the club unless he was asking for too much money. Doesn't make sense otherwise, he was a good player, rarely injured or banned and POTY in waiting.

So then regardless of the above.......why was Clohessy not at pre season training on the first day of the season? If I was an out of contract player then I would be on the phone or letting my agent earn his money in chasing the club.

To me, Clohessy gambled and lost out. He openly wanted to stay near London as he has a young family and Mrs has a good job in London. Basically, his arrogance of expecting a club to snap him up royally backfired on all parties. White can play across the back four so may have been signed in addition.

The bit was annoys me most is him speaking to the local press stating that 'I would never ask to leave the Blues'. Well maybe he didn't do that but he certainly didn't make huge waves to stay here either.

Kilmarnock are probably L1 quality.

Agree with this. It's definitely a step up for him and he gets the chance to play at Celtic Park. He's a big miss - I always thought he was a more convincing and consistent right back than Simon Francis.

Glasgow is a great city (not because I was born there...) and he will be able to spend some quality time with Mohsni. :hilarious:

I agree with you totally, clohessy didn't make much of an effort to stay here. I reckon he was looking to leave but wanted to stay locally at like brentford/gillingham etc but said 'he would never ask to leave us to keep us sweet and as an option if anything else didnt come up. So his agent is looking for other clubs when we offer him a deal, which he rejects as he is looking for something better and he goes on holiday. While on holiday brown decides to move forward and not get mugged off so he signs white, leaving clohessy screwed as his agent couldn't find him a local club. Meaning clohessy had to sign for Kilmarnock.

Dont get me wrong I thank clohessy for his consistent performances and he did deserve a step up, but he definitely got given wrong advice and should consider sacking that agent of his.
