Makes my blood boil.

Same **** every year. Annual East London road man convention in our once great City.

Why do the police not shut down the stations and just send them back? Hundreds and hundreds of these ****s were just arriving and waltzing through the high street causing carnage, completely untouched.

It was all over social media days in advance. The police must of known this “motive” was happening.

Yep. The police were aware there was an unauthorised beach party. They knew that loads of youth from London were coming down. It was all over social media. They must know that these gangs have beef or postcode wars. Some are out to settle old scores after one of their own being stabbed or hacked to death. So they should have packed out Southend Victoria and Southend Central stations, and met them getting off the trains. Those with weapons should have been arrested and weapon confiscated of course. Proactive rather than reactive. Don't let these horrendous weapons get out amongst the public of Southend. As the police here were clearly out of their depth, and didn't have the muscle or tools to intervene. They just let them hack at each other.

Was up visiting family today, had loads of these pricks on my train home. Blaring ****e music, smoking joints, the jobsworth ticket inspectors weren’t interested! Only clocked it was these idiots when I saw the tweets tonight

To be fair, if they could do the police's job for them and eliminate each other, nothing of value would be lost.

But these people walking about freely with weapons is still a huge threat to innocents. Disgusted that this was allowed to happen, and sadly think it's only a sign of things to come.

I've seen another video this morning of one of these idiots drawing what looks like a gun down the high street, whilst others attack eachother with machetes. This in broad daylight in front of many families coming here for summer holidays.

Horrific. I feel sorry for those people who were working in the likes of McDonalds who would probably have had to face intimidation from these mobs. Machetes on the seafront in full view of Adventure Island? And all just a few days after the Knife Angel moved on. Lord, give me strength!

Just seen the video that was posted on here. Makes me sick. I'm sure the Met police were glad they all headed this way for the day then they got an easier day of policing. Unfortunately that meant that our dear old plod who aren't kitted out to tackle these scum had no chance.

Its a shame we don't have a colosseum in this country where we could round all these pricks up and give them an arena in which to fight to the death. Winner stays on and its gets a fair few of our streets.

I've got two young kids of my own and I worry for their future. I guess if the kids that were doing this have grown up with this kind of thing with their parents / siblings / cousins being involved in this kind of activity then they will eventually head down that route as well.

I wondered where these kids even get machetes from, so I Googled them and the first page brought up loads of online shops where I can purchase a 20" one for £13.99!!! I'm not quite sure of the use of a machete other than to go trekking in dense jungle. Why are these even allowed to be on sale is the question i'd like to ask.

Nearly got caught up in the far right demo in London on Saturday. They were on the embankment and the other lot in Trafalgar Square. The Mrs got really spooked at one point.

Need to get the army involved and properly deal with these s***s.

This is a London problem, clearly not locals. If Essex Police aren’t coordinating with the Met to ensure this does not happen again then I’d be astonished. That said this was a problem last year…

I was in Waterstones last summer, daytime on a Saturday. Gang of yoofs bowled in, attempting to loot (Lego FFS!) and when the staff asked them to leave they screamed racism !

Police nowhere to be seen, felt sorry for the 3 middle aged women having to deal with these dirty *****!

Apparantly the groups fighting were two rival gangs from the postcodes IG1 & IG3 (Ilford/Seven Kings)

This isn't a one off, it is pre-arranged for about the same time every year. It was all over social media, so I fail to see how the Police haven't deployed the resources required to deal with it. The only way they get here is on train. Shut the bloody stations for a few hours if you have to, yes it is an inconvenience, but absolutely necessary. At the very least put dozens of police at the two stations, section 60 every single one and send them back to London.

If that was a mob of football hooligans coming from London, they would of been monitored, wrapped up by Police and either sent back home, or given an escort to the ground. Yet hundreds of kids can travel here (all pre-planned on social media) from London with 2ft machetes and terrorise our streets, with little to nothing to stop them. Someone at Southend Police & Council needs to grab this by the balls and stop it happening next summer, before more lives are lost to bladed weapons. I say a 20 year sentence for carrying and build more prisons.

Or stop the party (or "Motive" as the man dem call it these days) from taking place in the first place. Shut the stations for an afternoon, or deploy dozens of police at both stations, section 60 them all and put back on the train/arrest. Monitor Southend East/Westcliff/Prittlewell in case they try to evade. Job done.

Appeciate that is a lot of resource, but they would do it if it was Southend v Col Ewe etc. And that is handbags compared to these scummy blade merchants.

Precisely this. For years the old bill have been practicing how to corral and herd groups of people, prevent them from doing what they intend to do & generally spoiling their day/fun… so these scenes from last night should have been relatively easy to plan and deal with, especially when the intelligence was right there in front of them, which of course you don’t get with groups of football fans.

Not sure what the answer is, but at a minimum lessons need to be learned from this. I don’t say that with much hope though, as they didn’t learn from the exact same brawl that erupted on the seafront circa this time last year.

Our normal police should have rubber bullet guns locked away in the boot of the police cars, ready for this type of thing. Especially to deal with anyone carrying knives or machetes. They can't carry on like this, just standing and watching them hack at each other, in amongst the public.

Very true, very few said after the Manchester Airport fracas "behave and it wouldn't happen" etc, not politicos nor "society" leaders in Rochdale.
Khan has almost stopped Met Pol performing basic stop/search.
Transport Police have retreated to only doing armed security at central London terrorist target stations.
Essex Police have long been powder puff and lost the streets for pen pushing, number fixing, twitter feed nonsense over street work.
