I'm just hoping Timlin isn't given central midfield responsibility.

Agree, would put Leonard and Atkinson in there, Timlin out wide left and Hurst wide right. If that midfield can get 10-12 games together then I think they can do well. One thing they all possess is a decent footballing brain, something Straker does not.

Isnt Atkinson naturally a wide player and Timlin central though ?

Whilst he was poor on Saturday and did a job on the left Id rather a natural wide player on the left. Frustrating enough seeing Straker unable to deliver anything from the left wing, Timlin will be just as ineffective.

we will not get out of this league with atkinson in the centre, timlin needs to in there but not sure who with, we look to lightweight without him in the centre:sad:

Timmo has had almost a week to improve on his fitness and match awareness, I'd start him tonight. I hear the comments about playing him in the middle but we had our best spell last season with him in CM, I'd certainly have a midfield 4 of Leonard, Hurst, Atkinson and Timlin, but any of them COULD play anywhere! Eastwood and Woodrow to start up front, Corr to come on later.

Defensively it's a bit of a lottery, think Bentley will start tonight, but another goal deluge and we'll see Smith in the next game. White and Coker are pretty much a given but it could easily be any 2 from 3 of Phillips, Prosser and Thompson.

Scunthorpe have Iwelumo so will be pumping up long balls to him. Vital that Phillips starts as he is the only defender who attacks the ball in the air.

Relieved that I was able to renew BP quickly this afternoon, so that I won't miss the game tonight. (A virtual card doesn't renew automatically!) Strange that everyone appears to be talking up Scunthorpe as more difficult opponents than Morecambe.............the form guide doesn't agree. Scunny started brightly with a home win against Mansfield but since then, in all competitions, have lost one and drawn SIX! Their away form 0-0, 0-0, a 3-2 away defeat to AFCW and 1-1. They look difficult to break down and don't let many in.....apart from against AFCW! After thinking that we would get a point, I'm puting, if not my life, my reputation on the line by claiming we will just sneak this 2-1.....perhaps I should have stayed with my head rather than my heart when I originally thought 1-1. Good luck to everyone tonight, don't know whether it looks like great entertainment........but three points would be some compensation.
Feel a little sorry for Bentley......perhaps his confidence in his defense has drained away a bit, hopefully they'll tighten things up tonight. A new central defender is certainly not for tonight and from what I've read, may not be for any time soon.

I make you 100% right on this.

Really? I think that's a tad harsh on Prosser.....

And I think Prosser showed tonight that he is rapidly becoming our strongest central defender.

Well as Prosser played, and he was probably our MOTM,CB's point is a good one.

Timlin is not naturallly a central midfielder. He may like to drift inside, but that doesn't make him a central midfielder.

I'm also not sure why we want to deliver anything from the wings when we don't have the legend that is Big Bad Barry Corr on the pitch.

Did we?

I thought our best spell was with Makandawire and Laird in the middle and Timlin on the left.

Much like our best spell the season before that was with Ferdinand and Grant/Kalala in the middle taking away defensive responsibility from Timlin.
