Time to rest up, game tomorrow night vs Scunthorpe at home!

Looks like he is starting?

Have to say I thought we missed Corr massively on Saturday.

First game of the season tomorrow night and can't wait!

Might have to wear the cherry voltage for extra luck!

First of all, I am extremely looking forward to see football under the lights and think it was a great move by the club to get as many Saturday games moved forward. I went to the Morcambe game, and like many came away extremely disappointed. Tonight gives the boys that chance to forget about last week and get back to winning ways.

The Opposition
I don't know a lot about Scunthorpe but can imagine, having spent the last few seasons in a higher division, that they are more likely to a bit more passing football than most clubs in league 2, especially more so than Morcambe. On this basis I think we'll have more chance to play a passing game tonight, rather than the game being broken up by a largely physical side.

Team Selection
Lots to think about here. I think Thompson should come into the side. I think Brown has reason to drop either Prosser or Phillips based on last week's performance. Atkinson should come into the midfield and add the compsure that was missing Saturday. I would like to see Clifford start and give us a bit more bite and creativity in the centre of the park, but can't see too many changes being made. I would pick Corr ahead of Woodrow also. I can see more goals from Corr than what I saw of Woodrow.

My selection would be:
Bentley,
White, Thompson, Phillips, Coker,
Hurst, Leonard, Clifford, Atkinson
Corr, Eastwood.

If I was Brown I would be telling my players to stay calm and not to panic. Too many time on Saturday we were playing the wrong passes in an attempt to peg the game back quickly, when we should of kept calm and the goals would've come. Add this with more work-rate and high pressing and I think we will look good tonight.

Atmosphere
The hall should be buzzing but too many times the players were being abused on Saturday and I don't like to hear boo at full-time. Lets support the players, get behind them, and get back to winning ways.

I reckon Straker will start again even though he has been terrible in his last 2 performances!

You might be right of course .......... but if we are to challenge for promotion then we need to have a squad where there is competition for places in the first XI and I don't want to be seen to be "getting at" any of our own players but surely that means that Straker and Prosser who apparently had terrible games against Morecambe (I was on holiday and missed the game) can at best be hoping to be on the bench, doesn't it?

Ideally I'd want:
Bentley

White Phillips Prosser Coker

Hurst Leonard Atkinson Timlin

Eastwood Corr

But can easily see Phillips/Prosser and Timlin being dropped and Corr may well also be left out in favour of Woodrow. One of the two CB's probably deserves to be benched but Thompson really doesn't convince me too much so will probably stick with Phillips and Prosser. Timlin's best position is wide left and with Straker drastically losing form I'd certainly chuck him in. As for Eastwood's partner, Woodrow didn't do an awful lot wrong but really felt like we missed Barry on Saturday, even though he also hasn't been in the greatest form of late.

Really hope we get back to winning ways. Always loved a bit of Friday night football at Roots Hall!

A difficult game against better opposition in Scunthorpe, who have drawn 4 of their 6 games thus far. Really finding it difficult to call it, both teams need the win if they are to be challenging the top seven. Therefore safe bet is 1-1 draw, Corr to come off bench to grab late equaliser. Crowd of 4800 with 125 from Scunny,

Bentley
White, Phillips, Thmpson, Coker
Hurst, Leonard, Timlin, Atkinson
Eastwood, Woodrow

subs Smith, Prosser, Clifford, Payne, Straker, Reid + Corr

I'd go for:
Bentely
White - Phillips - Prosser - Coker
Hurst - Leonard - Clifford - Atkinson
Eastwood - Corr

That's the team I would go for except I would start with Barry up front and strict order to the full backs not to pump it forward (play long) except to get rid when under pressure. We should be playing through the midfield for the whole 90 minutes.

personally even though Straker had a positive start to the season he really was terrible especially against Morecombe and if his performance warrants another starting spot then this is something to worry about. yes he has pace and can beat a man from time to time but he gets in the danger area and he panics and doesn't know what to do.
