Absolute shambles.................Missed Lenny, and Kamara is not the answer. Timlin or Deegan would have been a better choice as we lost the game in midfield partly due to a lack of steel but also forgetting the basics like simple marking and passing. Scunthorpe always seemed to have a spare man/out ball and when they did'nt conned and kidded very poor officials. Day to forget and move on.

Timlin was doing a fitness test on the pit ch well before the game, so this may have something to do with his absence. Yes, we should have had a penalty. Loza definitely looked like he had been brought down, but I'm sure his exaggerated fall is what convinced the referee otherwise. As for the other shout, definitely handball. By this time I wasn't really suprised it wasn't given. Overall though we deserved nothing. All over the place for most of the match. Kamara and McQueen passengers, the rest not much better. Best player on the pitch, Scunthorpes number 7 Williams. Very Very poor performance and easily the worst I've seen away from home for some time. Bentley 6, ONeill 5, Hendrie 5, Barrett 6, Bolger 6, Thompson 7(mom), Atkinson 6, Payne 6, Mcqueen 4, Kamara 3, Barnett 5. Subs Wordsworth 6, Loza 6, Hunt 5

It would be good to see both penalty incidents again as it did seem we had a decent claim today. We got overrun in midfield - so much so that Brown changed the formation after 20 mins, sitting Thompson in front of a back 4. I appreciated the workrate of Leonard, Deegan and Timlin more without them there. Felt a little sorry for Kamara who didn't play well, but is clearly a very right footed player, and spent most of his time towards the left. Equally I don't understand why changes were made a couple of minutes after half time, rather than half time itself. Also, please don't anyone tell me O'Neill is a better player than John White.

Awful game, both sides were poor, Scunthorpe shaded it on the basis they created a couple of chances and we didn't. I think its a reminder that we still have plenty of work to do to properly consider ourselves as contenders for the play offs, and possibly a reminder that if we are brutally honest, we are at least a season too soon for the division above.

The only thing really worth talking about was the penalty shout.

I am going to be the lone voice here, but also a qualified one. I was right in front of the Loza challenge, you can see me on the box. I couldn't have got a better view and I wouldn't have given it. Whilst there was contact there wasn't anywhere near enough to send Loza sprawling on the floor. If it had been given against us, I'd have been spitting feathers.

But I have seen them given..... (who'd be a referee, eh?)

Couldn't see the other one as that was on the other side of the box..... so no comment.

"I have seen school semolina with more structure, attack and bite than that performance."

Surely already one of the lines of the year on SZ ?!?

You have to go with your reaction at the time and I thought the Scunny player caught Loza's heel and that sent him to the floor. It doesn't take much to do that.

I thought someone on here was going to say that Loza did not have control of the ball when he was caught - but (and someone on here who knows the rules better than I will be able to say) I thought that it was still a foul.

I look forward (not) to detailed multi-angled camera analysis ..................

Perhaps a front view isn't always an advantage. I saw it from the side and he got clipped. He did however exaggerate the fall once he knew contact had been made.

The problem is hardly any ref will give a free-kick unless a player goes to ground even if they are fouled; so players then exaggerate and get criticized for it.

I have see the highlights on TV now. Our no.25 at fault for their goal, he made absolutely no attempt to close their man down and just ambled over like he was on a Sunday stroll. I would not play him again until he shows some sort of pride in wearing the shirt!

We were denied two blatant penalties. Loza did their man and was tripped, it happened right in front of all of us in the away end and everybody could see it was a stonewall pen, the referee had a good view as well so how he didn't give it is beyond me. Secondly, their player literally raised his arm in the air inside the area and palmed the ball away but the ref just ignored it (he's clearly oblivious to the handball rule as we blatantly handled a couple of minutes later and he ignored that too). He was consistently bad all game and seemed far too keen to give them free kicks and not us. Overall the worst refereeing performance in a long time, he was a complete disgrace.

Referee aside, we were woeful and deserved to lose. The new formation worked for a few games but was useless today. The defence forgot how to mark and were far too open considering there were five of them. The midfield were lightweight and gave Scunthorpe all the time in the world, Atkinson, McQueen and Kamara were absolutely awful and gave the ball away every time they got it and couldn't win a challenge to save their lives. Payne was poor and rarely passed in favour of dribbling until he was tackled. Barnett struggled with no service. Wordsworth and Loza had a good impact and Loza was the only player to really trouble their defence. Hunt had a decent free kick but did nothing apart from that as the only service he received were aimless hoofs that he had no chance of winning against their tall defenders. Today went to show how important and underrated Leonard is, can't help but feel it would have been a different outcome with him.

After losing to an average Scunthorpe side I think it's unrealistic to expect any meaningful play-off push.
This pretty much sums up an awful performance. Brown has persisted with playing Payne too deep in the last 2 games, it just doesn't work, why was McQueen so far forward and Payne dropping deeper ? Payne is too lightweight, again bullied off the ball with ease.

Bentley outstanding, Barrett at times must have been wondering why Bolger and Thompson don't appear to think at all before they aimlessly hoof the ball forward.

One more point, Loza does throw himself around on the floor like he's looking for an Oscar, he did it at Shrewsbury and again yesterday. He was tripped yesterday but his reaction probably makes refs think twice, 100% drama queen, typical premiershite theatrics.

Number 25 = Kamara = out of his depth

It was a stonewall pen on Loza but to be honest we didn't deserve it. In some ways I'm glad we didn't get it because it would of papered over the fact we were shocking and would of lead to Phil probably picking the same team on Tuesday (earned your shirt). He effectively put Thompson in midfield in the end, rather than having the courage to take a CB off and going to a flat back four and having some structure in midfield. Let's see if the 5 at the back remains on Tuesday. Hanson is in top form at the moment so Bolger has to be on him for the aerial battle.

We all thought it was a penalty, although perhaps a point not deserved, the ref has got to do his job
Bradford and Hanson not easy, Bolg will have to be at the top of his game in picking him up.
