i think sunderland will reach the play offs and might just get promotion. wouldn't surprised if they did. if it weren't for their start they would more than likely be top. keane has done miracles and their squad is looking very good. that new ****nal lad looks like a quality player.

Looking forward to Sunderland, will be nice to have some friendly banter after having to suffer at Stoke. Hopefully we can get a good atmosphere going again, everyone should be up for it after having to make the big effort to travel.

Ok thanks for that.....

I'll ask you again after the match, it’s going to be interesting to see your opinions of how much we have changed and improved since we played you.

I'm not 100% but i would guess only 2 or 3 players will be the same.

Anyway all the best (after Sat) and have a safe journey up and a miserable one back down.

Stoke was quite funny. Getting the fans bus full of red and white back to the station after a late equaliser was interesting!

SAFC - any pubs with decent ale (real ale etc) near the ground? Any tips would be very warmly welcomed!

Looking forward to it, should be a cracking game in a cracking ground, and I'd be over the moon if we nick a point.

:D

If you want a decent pub I would head for Fitzgeralds in the Centre.
Its approx 15 mins from the SOL. Its a good starting point with loads of bars and pubs near by.

Rather than give directions just ask when you get there.

Not bad effort to have 650 or maybe more making an effort to Sunderland, just image if we was in the Play-Off zone .... we could take more! I won't be going as Iam off clubbing over the weekend starting Friday .....

Its be a great result if we come away without losing a game & 4 of our relegation rivals lose at same time. Safc79, nice to have fans of another team here - Southend are due to get their first double of the season, if not at Sunderland, we got another chance at Southampton on last game. I reckon this will be the hardest game of the season. Long as southend players give everything on the pitch, I would accapt any result - not like QPR limp effort!

don't worry about the Wear.... we do have bridges up north you know.
LOL - I know, just not a bridge directly between that pub and the ground.

Do you know about a pub called the Harbour View in Roker? Seems to be relatively walkable from SoL Metro Station (*) - about 10 minutes from the ground, from the looks of it - and gets good reviews for its ale...

:bear:

Matt

(* Would I be right in thinking that, to get to the ground, the Metro to SoL station is easier & more frequent from Newcastle than getting a train to Sunderland train station...?)

As I understand it, if you change in Newcastle for Sunderland, you pick up the metro anyway. Therefore the Sunderland bound line, goes past the SofL. Are you guys getting off in Newcastle then, not Darlo?

I think I'm right in saying that the only way to get to Sunderland rail station is from Newcastle... there's no direct Darlo - Sunderland route.

Is there some other way of getting from Darlo to Sunderland?

No expert on trains but you will get a local line from D'ton to Midd to S'and.
I would not get of at the SOL station as its further away than St Pauls station to the stadium. (a little irish that one:thump: )

The Harbour View is fine but its north of the river and well away from the City Centre.

Personally i would go into the centre but either way you will be fine.

edit.

Yopu could get off at Durham and get a local train / bus direct to Sunderland from there. Its only 7 miles apart.

Doh, I meant Durham, not Darlo.
