According to the OS he only signed a one year contract with us in the summer. Judging by his performances recently should Sturrock be talking to him about a new contract ASAP?

Yeah definitely, top of our assists table despite being dropped quite often in the early part of the season by Sturrock, and now finally added a goal to his name. Would be very disappointing to lose one of our better players on a free transfer.

I agree that Hall is someone that we definitely need to retain. He is improving and learning, I was impressed with his fitness yesterday and he's made the step up to pro-football very well. However we don't want to get too carried away with signing everyone up on new juicy long-term contracts, that's how we got into trouble in previous years.

One of ony a few with genuine footballing ability in our squad so keeping Hall is a must for next season's "promotion push" !!:whistling:

I think most of the squad signed on 1 year deals last summer. Which means Luggy has a busy summer coming up. But yes, Hall is one of about half dozen we need to tie down on new deals. The rest? Well, thank god we can move them on in the summer. We are carrying far too much deadwood.

Who? If Bouzid's trial in Scotland is successful the only dead wood we're carrying from this summer is Soares. Herd, Paterson and Spencer (and Crawford?) were all inherited.

Is their deadwood-ness invalidated because they were inherited ?

No, but if they weren't signed on one year deals last summer, they're not necessarily out of contract this summer and easy to shift on. When are their contracts up?

Interested Bromley fan here, i said on this forum when you signed him given time you have a talent on your hands.

Good to hear Ryan is finding his feet at last, saw the goal and it was a blinding finish, i have kept on eye on things and it seems he has been up and down, hopefully this will give him the confidence to kick on.

All the best for the rest of the season

Prosser has only been loaned out, he's another of the dead wood that would need to be released. Most would consider Gilbert deadwood after his sub standard performances this year - although I thought he was improved yesterday. Quite a few fans, myself included would argue that Paterson isn't dead wood but a decent squad member. I'd also consider not re-newing Evans contract (providing he's one whose on a one year deal)

i have Hall down as a potential Ricky Otto (not the armed robbery bit the footballing side). When on his game virtually unplayable, when not a virtual passenger and with Otto there were just as many off as on days. Certainly looks a great prospect.

Hall is a class act and really has made the left wing slot his own which is great.

I would argue there is loads of dead wood. Evans, Gilbert,Prosser, Phillips, Bouzis, Soares, Spencer, Patterson, Crawford, Herd have all done very little to be proud of this season and any could be moved on.

Get over yourself.....one swallow does not make a summer......one guy has a good game or two and suddenly they become the new saviour...The guy is average at best in a bottom half league two team.

You are all living in cloud cuckoo land if you think this bag of rag a muffins have any talent ..

I don't think DtS claimed that Hall is a saviour, but he is IMO going to be a good player, and stands out in the current team because he has some skill and ability.

Also mate you've been a Blues supporter for long enough when we've had poor teams, but individuals have shone out in those teams. I'm not suggesting that Hall will be a world beater, but I am saying he'll turn out to be a decent player and have a decent career in the Football League.

Agreed Harry, I think we've all spotted (or most have) that when Hall has a good game he does stand out as being fairly impressive and influential. Trouble is, he does have some games where he goes missing or looks lightweight. Just needs a bit of development. And I think we have to be optimistic and hopeful otherwise we'd be in a pit of despair all the time and I, for one, wouldn't enjoy feeling like that game in, game out otherwise what point is there in going to games? To prove yourself right? Well, sorry, that's not the way I've ever supported our team.

Not a chance in hell.

Not a chance in hell.

He's the most one-footed player I've seen in a while but at least that left foot has some quality in it. He's young and learning yet wants the ball when he plays, and has potential to be a good football league player.

We are all suffering from wanting to see a Rose in a thorn patch.......It is delusional at best, but still some will find solace in it somewhere.
