Explains why he disappeared off the radar for a while, I had no idea that he was suffering such a cruel illness. Well done Ryan for getting sober, and hopefully getting the help you need. And most of all, for being brave enough to speak out, will give a lot of people inspiration and hope. Keep up the good work!

Wish he'd of stayed with us for longer. To be honest we are crying out for his type of centre half now. Dominant in the air and no nonsense. The interview with him is really sad but shows the less glamorous and vulnerable side of being a professional footballer away from their families and friends.

I felt he was overrated at Southend. Was big, had a bald head and looked the part but I wouldn't say he was a good defender, even at L2 level. Huge credit on a personal level though.

Don't forget, he wanted to move back up north for 'family reasons'. He has been to Northampton, Eastleigh and now Romford. So far north I can taste the gravy!

Blimey I thought I was back in 2013 waking up to that. He went to Fleetwood didn’t he, after leaving us? Only 112 miles from Rotherham, where he was from. Pretty close, that.

I thought it was established a long time ago that being homesick was just an excuse to get out the club?

Ahem, I still get ITV Eastern region thanks.
This whole “north of Watford” thing I thought referred to Watford Gap services, north (just) of both Northampton and MK. Incidentally those are the oldest motorway services in the UK. I’ll get my coat .....

Yeah I think it is, though if you ask me the North starts from Crewe. To go all railway, thats where LNW is split between South & North.

If i remember rightly didn’t he leave us as he wanted to move back up north as he missed it up there? Seems strange to be home sick for the south based on that

Decent player at this level though
