Any Shrimper running Santa 5 mile in December, I’ll be there in full Santa outfit
Plus Benfleet 15 In January

Nothing in the diary now until London Landmarks half marathon in April, then the Colchester Zoo Stampede the same month.

Looking for more local races next year with two kids, so they’ll be able to come along too.

I hope to get some miles in over the winter to run the Chelmsford half in early March and then also doing the Colchester Zoo stampede as enjoyed it a lot last time.

I am away for the Southend half so hope to find and enter another reasonably local one latter in the year.

Run around the circle line yesterday in a club run. Although these runs are never done as a race, I was suprised our group finished second. Getting past parliament was rather slow with the police getting ready for the protests.

That’s awful.

They talk about making running more inclusive and so on, but I think races are pricing people out.

I love a medal and a finishers t-shirt, and I know some people don’t. I think there should be different fees for what you want.

I.e. £20/£25 to enter the race. Extra £5/10 for a medal, extra £5/10 for a t-shirt. That way you only order the amount of medals and t-shirts that people have paid for, and have it clearly marked on their bibs what they’ve paid for.

Cuts down on the wastage, and makes entry cheaper for those that don’t want those “extras”.

Join a club and run the x country league races. Very good socially and very high standard thru the fields - intended double meaning.
There is a Saturday and a Sunday league.
I am sure you, DSLC know this but others may not.

Yes Hadleigh this weekend my daughter came 13 th so was very happy for her

I'm in club run with Phoenix Striders, but will be honest I'm so focused on London Marathon, I'm worried the XC will injury me so running on road throughout the week, saying that in Benfleet 15, so that has no logic re not running XC lol

Totally agree, lots of races have the option re shirts, I have so many I tend not to bother unless they have a good design, and yes a medal is vanity and goes in the drawer, but I like the feeling I've achieved something at end of the day and now and then dig out the medals and remember the race

See Dunton test track 10 miler this year is a Saturday in 2024, last year was terrible getting there due to Sunday Boot sale, Im only a couple of miles from event so can walk/run there
And a bit special as last year got Number 007, , told event organisers I look more like Oddjob than James Bond !!!

I was intrigued by this too, so I just put the rough route into MapMyRun and it came up as around 15.5 miles.
