Time and energy spent pursuing comments on internet forums is, in my opinion, unproductive.
Personally, I'd be surprised if he trawled through all the comments himself. I think it's more likely that there were a number of print-outs on his desk this morning. Exactly like any executive would receive when their business has been in the press etc.

The man is a legend, he took the time to speak to me at length some years ago after i tried storming the boardroom after our first game of the season.

I spent a good hour chatting and getting some of my frustrations off my chest, in the time he has been chairman everything he said to me that day has come true. We still speak occasionally. I cant beleive people are moaning because he is willing to discuss issues with the fans.

People need a reality check and see that we are the furthest forward we have been in the the 28 years i have been supporting the club (The old people can verify longer). We have a chairman that gives a **** what we the fans have to say, personally i find that refreshing!!!

Funnily enough i noticed Scriv was locked on 'till late last night...

And so he should be as well. I'm surprised Ron is going to the trouble of wasting his time to be honest, but I think it once again proves his credentials. As I pointed out on one of the threads last night, which is clearly the one which has prompted the meeting, but some of the comments were close enough for Ron to file a law suit. Perhaps Ron's planning on presenting that law suit tomorrow morning, or maybe even a Roots Hall banning order.

Certainly actions would be louder than words.

And no, I'm pretty sure it's not Irate Ian. Ian may possibly be going about things in an unusual step, but Ron and him met several months ago and Ian was satisfied with the answers at the time. The only issue that I understand which Ian's not happy with, is that Ron hasn't got back to him as promised on a number of questions. I'm sure we've all missed a deadline at work, or forgotten to follow up on something before. I'm sure within a few weeks Ron will sort out Ian's answers as well.

If a huge club like Liverpool are having trouble funding a stadium, I can't understand how some people just think Ron can magic this money up.

Well put, exactly what I'd have said.

I hope that he comes out with some kind of public release biting back at some of the things that have been said against him. He doesn't deserve some of the things he's been accused of. He's not perfect, but we're in a much, much healthier state because of him and the future looks bright. He's so under-appreciated by certain people on here.

I'm not surprised he's angry after all he's done for the club. We'd just better hope he doesn't decide to walk away, if he does we'll only have ourselves to blame.

Yes, I know it's him. Although I didn't want to name him on this thread. I didn't realise he'd actually named himself on another thread though!! I pointed out to J last night the potential issues he could face if he continued to make allegations against Ron.

Oh right! We are lucky to have such a tolerant chairman as given some of the comments made hear and around the ground on occasion, it's a wonder action hasn't been taken before!

If Ron Martin gets uptight about stuff he reads on an internet forum, he's in the wrong job. Similarly if a footballer is going to lose confidence because about 1% of the crowd are saying unpleasant things, he, too, is in the wrong job. You take the acclaim when things go well and the flak if it all goes wrong.

Then again if 1% of the player's own crowd are abusing a player and the 99% are silent then the 1% are heard completely!

Really goes to show what a great chairman we have here at southend United fc

Some good points have been raised most I dont agree with so hoping we get the answers

And lets back Mr Martin 100% so he can carry on bring down our debts and hopefully and one day will bulid us new Our 22,000 stadium

I can see it been delayed a year or two cos of the credit crunch tbh

the cost of raw materials has nearly doubled in two years...

Fair play if Mr Martin wishes to quash some of the borderline libelous commentary about him on here, but at risk of upsetting some of his close allies on SZ, could I reccomend that Scriv should maybe make it a priority to proof read his articles on the website before taking the time to trawl these messageboards for supposed dirt. Just a thought.

I have it from the The "Horses Mouth" so's to speak that Ron is livid at some of the comments laid at his doorstep by certain members of the Zone last evening..

So much so the No 1 protagonist has a meeting with Ron tomorrow morning at 9-15....I will be there and we will put all of this bolix to bed once and for all.

Are you some sort of ambassador?

Can you ask him if due dilligence went into Neil Ruddock as guest announcer and with hindsight does he feel our brand was damaged as a result?

Fare comment ... as Scriv would say.

I didn't log on last night, as part of my policy of not posting 24 hours after a game, so can someone please direct me, or give me a summary of what was said?

Ron Martin is an absolute legend and how anyone can slag him off is beyond me.

does because there is credit crunch in the Uk at this present time that will not affect the stadium building starting on time and as you have put it that cost of raw materials have nearly doubled in two years

for your information a lot of the raw materials for the Olympic Stadium are being shipped into the port of Tilbury from within the EEC and being moved to site by of the companies i work for

just down the road at Baltic Wharf Rochford they import a lot of steel from spain which itself is being transported to Stratford

Building work has not stopped because of the increase in costs of raw materials

just keep the faith all will come good

Unfortunately dear boy, working on that side of the fence I can tell you, regardless of what the Olympic Delivery Authority do to make it seem they are acting in economic interests of the public, wait until you find out how uneccessarily elaborate some of the temporary facilities are, and how much more they are proposing to spend than a private client ever could....its easy when you have a limitless pot of money (i.e. ours!).

Thank goodness you are going to attend this meeting so that we will learn the truth rather than the slanted comments that the to**er that is J will likely put on here.
I think that the Chairman should have put any comments he wished to make in the next match programme rather than waste his time talking to that clown.
Rant over.
