Ron Martin

Indeed...a vast proportion of our fans are complete morons...unfortunate but true.

I think that is a far too sweeping a statement. There are a small minority of sheep in the west who just follow some muppet who starts a negative chant. I dont see that its right that we should all be classed as morons or even described as a vast majority of morons.

I went with my daughter and her friend, so if we take your example two of us must have been morons to ensure a majority....I dont think so pal!

I wouldn't say vast, as it seems to be concentrated in the upper section of Blocks V/W. However, they're a quite vocal minority. :p

MB...we were discussing this in the spread yesterday, and whilst I do not wish to make fleeting comments like this lightly, the aforementioned minority seems to be developing into a majority by the game. I'm a big fan of encouraging new young support away from the clutches of Premiership clubs, but some of their conduct is ridiculous and just counter-productive.

SS...please do not take the comment personally...please see my previous post.

It is noted on here that Mr Martin is very good on the PR front .

He has got supporters behind him very quickly and effectively and spent next to nothing in the process

He promises to let Tilly bring in new faces . This is clearly going to be more costly and he needs to deliver on his promises . To get in players of the right quality we are going to have to be more flexible otherwise we will end up with little improvement on what we already have .

He acknowledges that his failure to keep the club in the CCC has cost £2.5 m - many of us were last year pleading with him to give Freddy a better deal and strenghten the squad . It seems the message is now finally getting home so lets keep our fingers crossed .

C'mon Ron -splash the cash - you know it makes sense !

Failing to keep us in the CCC cost us £2.5m, Jobson trying to keep us in the CCC cost us £4m.

It always been the same as soon as things aren't going away the negative elements surface.

I was at Swansea when the "where's freddys money gone" chants first surfaced recently, we had played with 10 men for an hour and we were being beaten by the team at the top of the table its just ridiculous.

My worry with Rons statement of 'I'm backing the manager with funds' is the pressure that now puts on Tilly.

Ron is almost saying "...the money is there to improve the team - if Tilly doesnt spend it, its not my fault!"

£250k on Fallon would be a good signal of intent. Its hard to see where to spend the money though. Our midfield is one of the strongest in the league and who in the back line would you replace - Barrett and Clarke are a strong pairing and we had a good run with Richards in the side.

Hammell and Francis SHOULD be excellent at this level, the fact they havent really done it may show the full-backs need improving, with IMO rightback more urgent.

The fact we have about 300 forwards on our books and we are (or were!) struggling for goals shows that we probably need Fallon + A.N. Other - but surely we need to ship out some strikers?

Hello. Not been on here for ages, but i'm back now so no need to worry about me any more :)

Not sure about Fallon. He's not what you call a GREAT goalscorer (not that one would become available anyway). We have signed players in the 200K bracket before and they have been pants. Expensive signings dont automatically bring you goals.

Tilly and Brush MUST have been a bit iffy about Ron coming out...not that way :D As a manager, when your boss comes out and says "i'm giving you more resources" you have to then use them very wisely or you are out. That's pretty much in any profession.

shows guts from rm to address the fans and say the things he said. not sure tilly liked him doing it though. shows you the difference in chairmans for example some chelski owner roman someone? who would rather sulk and walk out before the end of a game just because they lost.

have a lot of respect for that man hes a good chairman and tells it how it is
good to see our chairman speaking the fans thoughts. Interesting that he felt the need to come out today and speak. One point he made was that there would be changes made in the transfer window.

THANK YOU there is a god:angel:

I though it showed that he does listen to what the fans think, and makes us a more family club. I have much respect for Uncle Ron. I have no respect for the people who moaned at him

What you have to remember those moaning are paying the players and SUFC staff wages, without them RM wouldnot have a football club, so perhaps he has to keep them sweet

Still awaiting last season promised War Chest to be opened that was promised on the OS

Despite RM saying he is behind the team and explaining his outburst in dressing room - just wondering if he stormed in to the dressing room at the end of the game to say "well done" - cuts both ways RM. If you slag everyone off when we lose and threaten to sack every an, woman and child - you need to give praise where it's due.

I'm sure he does! We really couldn't ask for a better chairman after some of the horrors that have nearly turned Roots into a car park!

And build us a nice new 22,000 seater stadium Mr Cynical

Jobson wanted to build us a new stadium as well, its just he didn't have the PR skills or a supportive council.

Our interests largely coincide with Ron Martin's, so I'm fairly relaxed, but you need to remember that Ron Martin is looking after himself first and foremost.

Others prior to Jobson have also championed us having a new stadium, which obviously came to nothing, so credit to Ron Martin for getting this far.

However he is a businessman and is not doing this from the kindness of his heart.
