Replacements for Tilson!!

Didn't Newell come out against corruption in the game?

he was alleged to be on 10 per cent of transfers -which was funny when he kept slating the board for selling all the talent - the rumour-mongers would have you believe that he did not have the interests of the club at heart

Plenty have said (although I think it's harsh) that his BUNGS outcry was a completely bogus smokescreen - bit harsh to level that one against him just because he's a scouser...!

if we were to get rid of Tilson - I would really like to see Paris Hilton managing the club - it would make just about as much sense as the rest of this thread -

I started this post as a there were a few people (in the pro Tilson camp) who wanted to know who could replace Tilson if he were ever to leave.

There are a number of credible managers for anyone to think (ie Scamps) that no one could do a better job than Tilson is clearly wrong!!

Whilst Tilson has done a great job getting us two promotions we have recently been in freefall. I agree that Tilson should not be sacked but if we were to be in a relegation position come February surely we should be questioning his position (or should we be behind Tilson whatever the situation)?

When people name potential candidates can they please list their achievements in bullet point form. This will make it a lot easier to assess.

eg Saved X from relegation to conference
Twice finalist of LDV
Won play-offs
Won League One trophy, only second ever trophy in X's history
Masterminded X's best ever League Cup run, knocking out holders and Premier League Champions on way
Signed unheard of striker for £30,000, sold him for £1.5m

If Ron were to appoint a Manger based on past achievments he would never have appointed Tilson! There are Managers that have been cack at one club and excellent at another!

Ian beale!! He wouldnt take no cack.

On a more posivite note i think tilly should be given more time but if it does sour grapes get Martin Allen in to shake things up.

if we get rid of Tilson I will offer to take it on - i did once play Sunday mornings - but will frankly understand if theboard goes with SVEN or WENGER -

failing these options - me, sven or arsene - i think we should go with Julian Clary or maybe even Britney -

anyone can talk bollox -

Agree 100% - point well made. Teams do go through comparatively good times and comparatively bad. That's the nature of football. It's not possible for all clubs to do well all the time. Are matters likely to be improved by sacking Tilly and dropping Maher, two of the most loyal and effective servants that the club has ever had? I think not.

I don't think that there's any allegedly about Newell being on 10% of transfers. My understanding was that that was part of the point he was making, saying, "I'm on 10% of transfers and that's common amongst managers and wrong." Certainly, that was part of his contract. How that ties in with the allegations he made, I'm not really sure.

Anyway, I agree with several of the more sane posters. To be discussing Tilson's future at this stage is absurd. However, it is sensible to be wondering who could replace him if the hypothetical situation of his sacking occurred, because the realistic answer is that there is no-one who would provide more than a short term advantage. Thus, calling for his sacking is pointless.

Kevin Maher? - that will be popular on this board.:D :D

If Tilly stays for another couple of years then Maher would be my bet to eventually take over. If Tilly goes sooner than that for whatever reason then I'd put my money on Paul Brush being given the chance.

This is the one to lead us . My faith has been restored by you 2. I was wondering if i was wrong in my thinking after reading all the posts on here knocking Tilly and Maher over the last week.

Indeed, BRING BACK BARRY FRY!!!:D

Stupid thread which has thankfully been ripped to pieces by the vast majority on this board.
Unless we are relegated this season there is no way we should ever think about sacking Tilly.
