Whilst this is incredibly poor it shouldn’t get away from the fact we are dog ****
Absolutely. Too often we forget about crap performances and blame the ref. Both things can be true.Whilst this is incredibly poor it shouldn’t get away from the fact we are dog ****
It wasn’t actually. I hadn’t been on Shrimperzone, or on this thread specifically. So, picked up from on here then, from the excellent detective work by @coxinthebox .
Such a point scorerIt wasn’t actually. I hadn’t been on Shrimperzone, or on this thread specifically.
Someone replied to my tweet about the game at 14:03 to say that the referee was from
Colchester. This surprised me, so I then done my own digging, hence why my screenshot was at 14:29, and @coxinthebox posted at 14:36. Not that it matters who found out first or where it was picked up from.
Aren’t you the same moaner who kicked off about someone being nominated as an inspirational fan at Christmas? Not the first time you’ve moaned about my tweets either

We were poor but the refs woeful decisions changed the game to the point that Barnet would not have got the chance for the first goal had he given correct decisions before the first goal, fouls etcIs it possible to send a video to the F A showing the disallowed goal ? And asking for an explanation? I know we will not get one, but it was such a poor decision.
But like others have said they were miles better that us on the day.

We could then have possibly scored, who knows but they may have still got the first goal. Butterfly effect and all that
The point is, as much as we were poor, there is no doubt that referees decisions influence games.
The disallowed goal was a shocker and does really need to be looked at, but will make no difference ultimately.
Constant bad decisions must get into the players heads. As much as they are pros and have to just get on with it, sub consciously, they must go into challenges differently once they have been in the end of a number of woeful decisions
Actually, I don't see your tweets as you have - and pretty much have always had - me blocked. You seem to like the glory of breaking things first, so if this is another of your "scoops", then I apologise. It wasn’t actually. I hadn’t been on Shrimperzone, or on this thread specifically.

I have rarely read so much utter nonsense. Big screen shots of Colchester United related tweets posted at the age of 14 which showed he supported them then has no relevance. Assuming he still holds more than a passing interest in the club, he will have declared this and will not be appointed to a Colchester match or possibly not even one with a clearly defined end of season impact on them, but not involving them.
He is now at the level where is is eligible to be appointed to Football League matches.
There is no reason why he should not be appointed to another club, in a different League, 42 miles away.
Anyone remember Matt Donohue? He used to post on here as a Shrimper. His refereeing career has blossomed and he moved up from National League level to the Football League in 2018 and is now a Full-Time referee in Select Group 2 doing Championship matches. I'd say he has every chance of becoming a Premier League referee in the next couple of years. Where was his first ever Football League match? Colchester v Port Vale at the JobServe stadium or whatever it's called.
By all means discuss his less than acceptable performance; I certainly think he found it easier to award free-kicks to the visitors than us but I was far too far away from the disallowed goal to comment on that one. But digging out posts made by a young kid nearly a decade and a half ago, which had no relevance to Southend is, in my opinion, pathetic.
As pathetic as feeling the need to continually post on another team’s forum ?Couldn’t agree more, refs can have bad games or make mistakes the same as players (or managers) but the desire to attribute these to loyalty for a rival based on historical tweets made as a child (or to being a female as several posters did earlier in the season) is indeed, pathetic.
Totally agree and I was just about to post something similar to your opening sentence. Refs have bad games, of course, (as do players) but to call into question an officials integrity by suggesting bias as he is a fan of our "local rivals" (I think most Col U fans see Ipswich as more of a rival than us to be honest) is complete tosh.I have rarely read so much utter nonsense. I've said the same for many years. I love football as a sport, but hate the culture around it. I've only been to a handful of rugby matches in my time, but the culture around the sport is so much better.Totally agree and I was just about to post something similar to your opening sentence. As mentIoned before, I had to ref half a game once and found it unbelievably difficult and that's with both sides knowing I'd had no training and was only doing it so they could play their friendly.
I'm afraid this is just typical of the mentality of the average football fan these days. If a player plays badly, he must be crap, if the ref makes bad decisions he's biased, if a team loses then there has to be a scapegoat somewhere and if a team underperforms for a bit, well, sack the manager, why not? And if it doesn't improve, do it again. And again. And again. After all, at some point, it'll change...
It's probably why these days I'm a Southend fan rather than a football fan.
What do you base that on?(I think most Col U fans see Ipswich as more of a rival than us to be honest)
Information from the handful of Col U fans I've ever spoken to. I also used to work at the club years ago and, certainly back then (1991 - Jobson era) the two clubs enjoyed an excellent off pitch relationship. I do think it's much more our rivalry than theirs, if you know what I mean. Maybe not so much these days with Social Media whipping everyone up, but certainly historically, as far as I was aware, anyway. What do you base that on?
I do agree judging the refs performance on stuff he tweeted as a teenager is a bit of a stretch. Don’t buy that at all.
Interesting. I'd have thought Col U weren't on Ipswich's radar apart from being a fairly local club that maybe was a 2nd club for a lot of their fans (just like a lot of Spammers/Arsenal etc watch us). Whether Col U dislike Ipswich though and more so than us ... ?? .. I know there are Col U fans on here who might confirm.Information from the handful of Col U fans I've ever spoken to.
