Irrespective of whether Tilly mismanaged him, he signed him and sold him with a profit clause which continues to see us get money in, 8 years down the line.

I think you will find it was RM who ensured we're still getting money from his sales 8 years down the line Pubey.

You mean the same Gary Hooper that Tilly didn't rate and got rid of him even though, week in, week out, the fans could see he was a good player and one for the future and went on to play at a much higher level? :winking:

I mean the Gary Hooper that we signed for free and sold for £600,000.

We might not even still have had a football club if it hadn't have been for that.

Certainly a better signing than someone we paid £400,000 for and left one relegation later.

And I'm guessing a % had to be paid to Grays also?

I'm afraid I'm not privy to the clubs accounts, so I'll have to take your word for it that the (further sales) of Gary Hooper have kept our club afloat.

The club accounts are freely available from Companies House and usually get posted on here.

Just look back to the start of the season where West Ham beat Arsenal at the Emirates and Reece Oxford played the full 90 mins and Mesut Ozil was stuck in his pocket all game.

Would be an absolute tremendous signing.

Especially if Ozil goes out on loan to Colchester or Shrewsbury.

We only sold him for 150k, thats just how much we valued him at the time, which was less than we paid for Billy Paynter and James Walker. Yes we got extra from selling on fees thanks to Scunthorpe actually playing him, but if we really had done well with him we would have played him and got 2 million Like they did, plus more sell ons after.

To say we Hooper was anything but a balls up is putting positive spin on it to the extreme.

It was a mistake, but Tilson signed plenty of quality too.

I can only hope Brown makes 10 mistakes like that then.

I really don't get the love in for Hooper. He was a lazy **** that sulked around the pitch and had a cry when his dad told him too to get his own way.

Scored a few playing in a very very weak Scottish league and got his big move...before now working his way down the leagues back to his rightful home of championship/league one.

I don't care about that.

I care that we signed him for free and turned a huge profit on him that subsidised the club and helped keep us in business.

Oh yeah. The 1 in 2 for Scunthorpe, the 2 in 3 for Celtic and the 1 in 4 for Norwich, Hooper. Deserves no respect eh? So many of our players have topped that, right?

I don't give a **** what he did for anyone else. He was a lazy sulky player in a blues shirt. I'd rather 11 Adam Barrett's than the hooper type player.
