This really isn't boding well - its not a want, we NEED players now! have finances dictated that we have to throw a hail Mary until the end of the season with half of the escaped clowns from the circus on first team duty still? If so we should all be told now and we can find other pursuits for the rest of the season on a Saturday rather than mainlining this depression shot into our veins

Our scouting team are having to operate like a pack of lions.....go to some teams training pitch, look for the straggler away from the pack, run up and attack together, and instead of eating the victim, put a bag over his head, manhandle him into the back of a van and then force the poor player to sign for one of the worst performing clubs in England for the past three years!

Now I am beginning to understand why we have ended up with the squad we have and why none of them had the pace to catch up the safety of their pack.

How many additions are there squad spaces for is something that would be good to know.

Do players have to be deregistered in order for new faces to join?

I think although it's clear the team needs strengthening , I would rather the people working on it take the time they need to identify the right players even if that means things might take a while longer.

Supporters do need a dose of reality , club doesn't have any resources of significance , we can't buy our way out this league.

I will take survival at this point.

Maybe the reality is that Stan promised much much more than can realistically be delivered. How many times did he say the scouting team already have players in mind and 100ish clubs willing to help - 2 weeks later nothing done and missing our best player too now so literally no creativity at all minus Brunt. I hope I am wrong as the positivity that he came with was great but it’s all fallen a bit flat now.

I understand that , considering how lenient supporters have been watching that shower of s**t get beat every week, I can't really criticize the people who have had to walk into this circus. It's become clear the club has been left to rot whilst awaiting for planning permission.

Honestly my disdain and upset is towards the playing staff within the past 2/3 squad's.

Especially when you think of the wages ****ed up the wall , at least now you can be sure most of the squad are on a suitable wage for the level they now play.

I would hope we can bring in 1 or 2 in.

I would rather we get the next 2/3 signings right , they already got 2 lads in tbf

because if we don't it looks like conference south next season lads.

Its way too early to judge Stans role imo.

The problem is fans, me included after the last 3 years want an instant fix. But it doesnt really work that way does it.

For the ney sayers, would you prefer Bond and co., Sol and the readers wives section, Molesley and the beanie brigade, Fagan and Brown, or the 3 respected former southend players and Currie trying to fix all the ills?

Whats the alternative? Go back to sacking them all and trying to attract Mick McCarthy with
Ron on his own appointing and doing everything...

Despite our many problems. Im happy that the right people are in positions where they can try and get us out of this quagmire and change the way sufc is run in the long term.


We just have to stay up....

Realistically the time for a dramatic make over is the close season unless you have the money available pay transfer fees. It seems a safe assumption we have not.
Although in reply to an earlier post Stan accused me of 'stream of consciousness' I stand by what I said then and that is that the identities and abilities of most players is no secret.
Their availability or otherwise might not be so clear cut. Money can open doors and therein might lie the problem. If, as many on here assume, Southend as a club is not a favoured destination, one of the ways to attract players might be to offer wages way over the odds. Like transfer fees this also may be beyond us.
The idea that there were legions of players out there just waiting to be signed who could immediately improve our situation was always, I thought, pie in the sky.
I would be delighted to be proved wrong.
I suspect all we can hope for this season is to bring in some impactful loanees who can help us avoid the drop. If we can stay up. next May and June will be the time for meaningful recruitment.
We are Southend and our expectations have to be realistic.

No, players do not have to be “deregisteted” for new ones to arrive.

That was a condition under one of our transfer embargoes. We are not under any form of transfer restriction, and are 100% completely up to date with player wages too. There hasn’t been anything like that at all this season.

Kev, Benno, Currie & Collymore have all been at games this week, and have all been extremely busy working around the clock to bring players to the football club.

Last I heard, they were still hoping for before the Grimsby game. Not sure what the deadline is for a player to be registered for the game tonight. If someone doesn’t arrive before today’s game, I’m certain it’ll be next week.
