Recommend me a Chinese Restaurant

Southend_Lady

Ginger Sam
I had a table booked at the lovely Jade Palace in Wickford tonight, I have just called to confirm the booking and been told that they are starting their Christmas menu tonight which is not quite what we wanted.

I have decided to go elsewhere now and was wondering if anyone could recommend me a good Chinese anywhere really. Preferably an all you can eat - but not a buffet style, one where you order.

Thanks.

Pearl dragon - Southend seafront.
Jasmine garden - Leigh broadway.

Cheers for these guys. I assume they are all the buffet types where you can order rather than go up like the canteen style!

The Jasmine Garden is excellent, and it is waiter service.

If you want a dance etc then The Great Hong Kong in Stanford is pretty good. IIRC they do a pretty good set menu as well.

I've not been there but been told that Mr Ping's in Benfleet is quite good.

Champagne in London Road Westcliff , Southend side of Hamlet Court Road. Absolutely superb.

Great food, and fantastic value.

But, it's a bit grubby if I remember correctly. Not that sort of place that you want to look too closely at, if you know what I mean! Don't go there if you're looking to impress anyone.

I went there the night before my Dads wedding in 2002, it was so good I saw all my food again 3 hours later. Never been back since.

I have been going there ages and have only put on 5 stone. Never been ill once. You, Sir, are a wimp.

I don't think either is 'all you can eat' but they are amongst the best Chinese restaurants in the area.

In my humble opinion all you can eat and decent food do not go together.

Anyone tried The New Dragon in Southend near to the High Street? I've had to book that as nothing else this late notice

No, but I have heard that Wings at the top of York Road is OK - I have never eaten there though so don't blame me if you go there and it isn't.

I think it is more the tendency of people , like Chadded, to gorge themselves and feel ill. It's not the food it's the porkers who eat like there is no tomorrow. Anyone who knows me knows what a delicate eater I am.

Funny that Ken I've encountered a similar problem whether it's Indian, Chinese, Italian, French, Mexican or whatever I put on weight, I put it down to being a fat barstard.
