Even ones where you would hope certain people had learned their lesson be defaulting on previously?

You default when you don't have any money. We all know that we don't have any money. Presuming you're talking about HMRC or wages then the bigger issue is where we are with the Sainsburys money. Has the loan cap been reduced because the development has faltered?

Payments are going to be made late or not at all. We have crippling cashflow shortages. Whoever runs the Club is going to have that problem unless they have the personal wealth to pay our bills for us.

Sorry - you can put last season's events down to cash flow, but what cash flow issues do we currently face? Did we not recently get a £5m loan from Sainsbury's Bank, following on just a few months after another multi-million pound loan? With credit facilities like that and our still relatively high attendances, we should be the envy of other clubs in our division as far as cash goes, shouldn't we?

Any protest calling for Martin to stand down is a waste of time, effort and emotions. And one that I wouldn't support.
I am having my own little protest by not attending games. I have only been to the Torquay game this season.

if there were to be a protest (which I don't think there will be) lets not embarrass ourselves like last season with the mini protest outside the East stand after a game.
Any co ordinated protest needs direction and purpose. Calling for Martin out. What happens if he decides "Ok protesters you win, I am out of here"? Then what becomes of Southend?
For me any protest should call for Answers, transparency and proper assurances that there will be a club in 1 year. 5 years 10 years etc. But there would also need to be "sanctions" or consequences in case our call wasn't heard. These would require co operation of a large number of fans. And could be escalating. Things such as arriving 10 minutes after kick off, silent protests during the game, leaving early, leaving late not buying merchandise, programes or refreshments on a given day.
But for anything to happen it would require numbers. i don't mean 50 or 100, it would need 1000 plus minimum. and thats where it falls down instantly.

Add to that fees from the transfers of Hooper and Bailey.....gate receipts.....and the annual FA/TV lump sum to lge 2 sides which I believe was about 600k although don't quote me on that figure. Those are a few income streams off the top of my head to add to the Sainsbury's money...and our overheads this year are nowhere near last year.

As stated a couple of times now, potentially the cashflow problems (and we still have them no matter what - our business model lends itself to cashflow shortages as we have relatively fixed outgoings but income which will vary substantially month to month) could indicate that the Sainsburys money has been capped because of the project faltering.

Or they could potentially indicate that the money has been rationed because it's got to last us two years.

The trouble is that none of us know either way because we don't know the ins and outs of the agreement with Sainsburys.

Quite, but we are talking about this year and we should not be having money problems already.

Why? We're a historically loss-making football club. We were making losses before Ron Martin came along and provided we survive beyond him (please God) we'll make losses then too.

The only way that we weren't going to have massive cashflow problems this year was if the Sainsbury cash was a pool which we could dip into all season whenever we needed it. If that isn't the case then we'll certainly have cash shortages because the bulk of our season ticket cash was spent a long time ago.

We have had the added bonus this year from Hooper and Bailey sell on's + the FA/TV money , gate receipts etc. These surely cannot of all been spent already...if that is the case we are seriously in a hopeless situation. We are running a league 2 team and our current turnover should cover costs.

Do we know if these were all lump sums though?

Correct me if im wrong, didnt Ronald say a couple of months ago that we are financially secure for 12 months? Or was this another one of his bullshite statements?

I believe the FA one is . The sell on's I would have no idea about. But we are only paying monthly overheads out...Our income ATM I feel should be greater than our costs.

We are less than 3 months into the season.

Maybe. Presuming we have 5,000 gates three times per month at an average of a tenner a ticket, and presume that half of those people coming to Roots Hall are season ticket holders then that's £75k cash income.

Presuming that we have have 20 players earning an average of £1k per week then that's a monthly wagebill of £80k (and considering that we've been told that we've giot a wage budget this year of £1.3m the chances are that the wagebill is higher than this). Straight away there's a £5k shortfall before we pay tax, travel, bills, etc.

Another thread of speculation, hear say and rumour..... yawn.

Wait until something happens then react to it, is what I say.

All these posts are supposition. I am sure there are only a very few people who know the truth and they certainly don't post on the Zone.

John, I'd doubt that the club will have received the sell ons yet from Charlton and Scunthorpe, although the figures should be budgeted for. I can't see either club falling over themselves to pay us, I wouldn't in their position. Also I can't imagine that the TV money for Division 4 is 600k per club, more like 600k between 24 clubs IMO.

If it's true that the club are bouncing cheques that's seriously worrying given that the club doesn't operate with an overdraft as the bank won't offer one. It seems that Ron may be areverse alchemist, he can turn paper into rubber, allegedly!!

Wrong we got £5 million about £3 million of which we had already been given and was used to pay HMRC on more than one occasion and other debts.
