Preston Saturday

Horse

Guest
Hi Shrimpers

Preston fan here, Well done on the victory versus Man Utd. last night.

With regards to Saturday, looking forward to visiting Roots Hall. There are quite a few of us staying over for the weekend, whats the nightlife like around town, any decent 'indie' nightclubs you could recommend?

With regards to the game, should be an interesting one. You'll be on a high following your cup result last night I'm sure!? How do you think Saturday will go?  Preston are an attacking team who like to get the ball down the wings and plenty of crosses into the box, saying that we also tend to play the ball long to Danny Dichio and bring the midfield into the final third.

What kind of game do Southend Play, passing, long-ball etc?

I fear our team will not manage to get their feet back on the ground in time and I can only see a Preston win.

I hope i'm wrong 'cos heaven knows we need the points.

Yeah, Saturday spells "Back to reality" doesn't it!!...

What were your two performances like versus Leeds (a)? It is perhaps the best way to gauge you from my point of view.

So far this season we have played (from the bottom third)Barnsley, Hull and Leeds at home and to be fair Barnsley and Hull both showed a good fighting spirit and played some decent football, they were far from easy wins. Leeds were very dis-organised and lacked fitness.

We like to get the ball down and play.

Preston will be another very tough game for us, against a side that has been knocking on the Premiership's door now for a while. I reckon will have to put in another performance like last night if we are to win this game.

As for pubs and clubs, there are plenty in Southend. These are dance music though, not sure about indie.

Bakers Bar
Mayhem Nightclub
Storm Nightclub
Reflex Bars (80's theme)

My clubbing days are pretty much behind me now though, so I probably have no idea as to the in places to go. I'm sure some of the younger shrimpers will post though. If not trying searching on Google for what you want.

Cheers

If we play like we did last night, we will give PNE a bloody good game...

But it's a big IF!!!.....

I just hope last night has given the boys the lift they needed.

Thanks for the club tips.

So who bar Eastwood will pose a threat? We've got a good engine room on its day in McKenna and Sedgwick, two decent wingers in Whaley (top scorer) and Pugh. We will probably field Dichio and Nugent up front (although Agyemang & Ormerod are scoring of late). Our defence is quite young and you could say in-experienced at this level bar the experience of Alexander at RB.  The two centre halves have stepped up a league: Chilvers (Col******r) and St Ledger (P'boro). LB is Matt Hill who has been with us 18 months and starting to pick up his form.

We had to rebuild our defence after the sale of two key players and a season long injury.  The young lads are doing well and have matured fast.

I envisage Sodje will mark Dichio, who does Nugent face?

Hows your LB suited to facing a tricky winger?

Sorry guys didnt realise saying Col******r was like saying B****pool up here!

But don't wear your best trainers!

Well there you go then. Should be a good battle.

Haven't seen any of the highlights from last nights cup game, but Sky were comending the shrimpers defence.

Is there anywhere to put them, or will it be across the seats?

What are your stewards like, are they sound?
