Don't understand this at all. Surely you're going to watch Southend, what does it matter who is turning out for the opposition? I can understand West Ham fans giving it the swerve if they aren't interested in seeing their yoofs, but why would it make any difference to Southend fans?

Personally £15 is too steep for a friendly full stop, whether it's against West Ham under 12's or the Brazilian national team - friendlies are just mindnumbing dirge from a spectator perspective. But if I was going to pay £15 for a friendly I'd rather see us play someone nearer our level (ie their youths/ressies) than struggle to a boring 3-0 defeat to their first team barely getting out of first gear.
sounds like you are well happy to pay £15 for tonights game of footie eh, well what about this saturday as well eh, people that have paid good money up front and wanting to see a good hammers eleven......well wont be eh, there will be a fair few going tonight that will now not be going on saturday due to the expense of the two games.

To be fair to him £15 is disgusting considering West Ham are bringing mainly a youth/reserve team tonight. I'm not going either.

Fringe players and youth by the sounds of it. Pricing too high for this one.

However, a good chance for Brown to decide what players he wants to loan and the loanees get a good chance to see Roots Hall.

Absolutely not - I'd only go to a friendly if was a local game (to me) - regardless of price.

But surely no-one is going to prioritise a friendly tonight over the first game of the season on Saturday??

and in any case, we have no chance of seeing a good Shrimpers eleven, so why should the visitors be afforded that luxury. :smiles:

So have all ties linked to the Embargo bow been cleared? Like accounts side of it as well? And don't we have to wait till mid Aug to have the complete all clear?

It's important to get some money into the club, this friendly can help to do that. We also get to look at some of the younger West Ham players, who could potentially be singed if and when we are no longer under embargo. It certainly isn't pointless.

No its not pointless but a shame we can't sign and have them registered now. Tottenham made the decent point of not having injuries till then. so its vital we get off to a good start. Or otherwise by the time we do bring people in we'll be playing catch-up.

We can sign however many me like it's the matter of registering them that is the problem.

This is true. However you try telling a potential signing that they may not be registered to play for a while, and see if they are still keen!...

I read that Bilel Mohnsi can't play for Rangers till September. If it's short term I'm sure most would understand but if it's something that can't be sorted out then it could be a problem.
