Police Presence at Telford

is your chairman doing any deals on away travel coaches ?

We have away travel coaches for every game. We have never not had an official travel coach since AFCTU formed 4 years ago.

Prices will probably be about 10-12 quid, and there would be 2 or 3 coaches id imagine.

We took 3 full coaches to Northwich on the tuesday night replay so its possible again, even if it is a longer trip.

should be 300 there at least.

Our coaches up there were more than £10 or £12 and ours are non profit making does your chairman subsidise?

On behalf of the real telford fans i must appologise for the scum that they are they have attached themselves to us from shrewsbury town and a couple of other clubs they actually dont go to games as is pointed out but until west mercia police take action and arrest the Effing lot we're stuck. min you someone posting on here and bragging about the organised troubled that was supposed to happen probably lead to the decision as well to be fair. Still it appears to have gone off peacefully for those of us REAL fans at least see a week tuesday.

Welcome to our world. I can't remember what a 3 o'clock ko is like. For Peterborough we had so many coppers you couldn't move for filth. We had a chopper, riot cips, the UN, SAS and the A-team...

There is so much over reaction these days its unreal, nice overtime in the run up to christmas though :whistling:

I spoke to the police, and they said they don't travel. So we should only see true AFC telford fans there :peace:

In the spirit of friendship they are welcome to park their Smart car on my drive.

We should be building bridges, not walls.

No, though they are non-profit too... mind you I would have thought it will be closer to the £16 mark... incidentally our Chairman doesn't fund the club any more than the rest of us, we're a Trust run club... we exist on fundraising (eg. Goalden Gate Lottery, Raffles etc.) corporate sponsors and the standing orders etc. of supporters along with the usual gate receipts and merchandising.

I'm not sure about that. The last away game I went to was at Solihull Moors in January, and it kicked off in the ground big time. There is an element of trouble, more than any non-league club that I know, but apart from that, AFC Telford is a great family club and just enjoys its football. Can't wait to play Luton or Altrincham in the second round though ;)

probably cos you bragged about about bringing 900 the club were told you were expecting to bring 600 mimimum.

I wouldn't say we were bragging .. we often have threads about how many we would take here there and everywhere (i actually stated we'd take 1250 so you could say i was a bit optimistic there !!!) at this stage last season we took over 1000 to Oxford .. a ground where we had taken 1850 18 months previously ... i thought with it being the first meeting between our clubs for something like 90 years (counting the old TUFC obviously) that there would be greater interest ... as did many of us

As it happens, AFC Telford are well known in non-league circles as having a sizeable thuggish element within their support, something that has been reflected via pictures and match reports in the Non league Paper this season. As over the top as it may have appeared, the local plod were trying to protect the Southend support from the local morons, and not the other way round.

As a Telford fan, I can confirm this is correct.

Yep, I've seen it first hand too, right nasty b*stards.

Whilst we have our fair share of wanabee Hoolies, it is no more or less in percentage than any other club! So I would dispute the word "Sizeable"... I would also dispute the "within their support" comment too, we do get hangers on who are not part of the support i.e. often don't even enter the ground! As ever the Press is often not that accurate in it's telling of the story - a prime example being the coverage of our visit to Stalybridge *last* season when ordinary well behaved fans where attacked in the ground by Stalybridge Chavs... yet it was the attacked Telford support who where depicted on the front page of the NLP. Last season we had problems at Stalybridge, Alfreton and Kettering but TBH I don't recal any particular incidents this season.

Dan is correct that the Police would have been for the Shrimpers protection; it has been known for non-supporting idiots to try to make the most of the visit of a league team, and for Thugs associated to other Clubs near by (Wolves particularly) to see it as an opportunity to settle old scores etc. Telford does suffer from a reputation in the non-league whilst some is justified a lot is down to other clubs seeing our visit in the same way!

I can see what you mean, your trips to the aforementioned Stalybridge, Alfreton et al are on a par with sides like Leicester, Wolves and Birmingham coming to Southend ... they come to a "small" club and think they can take the p!ss, which puts the locals backs up and oftens brings out the "seige mentality" of said locals
