Police Presence at Telford

Got a few txt's saying that the police had turfed out a load of fans from a pub

Yeah we found 2 pubs that were closed, walked 10 minutes or so towards another and there was a group of Southend fans (inc' April and a couple of others) and a load of police outside. One of the pubs had apparently agreed to accomodate away fans but then changed their mind at the last minute, a load of us where then escorted to the ground Football Factory style! ****ing joke!!

Can anyone conform if the Mad AFC Telford Hit Squads will storming Roots Hall Tuesday week then, any who had conversations with Police yesterday ?

Well you travelling fans do have a bit of a reputation for "taking" a town!!!

Blimey, escorts to the station. Pubs smashed up by home fans! Beginning to sound like Wealdstone away in 1980 (?). Mind you things went totally wrong on the pitch and we won!!

Very much hey ho!

Mind you, as per an earlier post if there were people that felt safer for it, and we're not talking about anything worse than a few idiots sounding off, then you'd like to think it served its purpose having so many police there i s'pose?

One copper even told me he was from the Hereford branch of West Mercia police, and there wasn't going to be a lot of the old bill at the Hereford/Daggers match yday cos they were all at Telford.

That'll be a good turnout for midweek, 'cos it'll be a pig of a journey! Mind you at least youi'll all have the hospitality of decent boozers and a pint at the end of the rainbow!;)

After getting some inside information, I can now reveal the necessity of such a large police presence yesterday. They were mounting an operation to capture a vicious serial killer. A blond haired guy who murdered every Rod Stewart song he tried to sing!!

we were informed there were a large presence of police as Telford have a pocket of people that were hell bent on causing trouble, especially some that were drinking in the local pubs.
On hearing this we did quickly make a call to some of our supporters that were not drinking in the ground and to tell them to get themselves over ASAP, which luckily they did.

I assume you meant us lot with the above? Was certainly interesting in the pub - sat down for a drink then got approached by a couple of the Telford lot appartently trying to organise a 'meet' - they seemed under the impression we were bringing a couple of hundred for a dust up. Seemed rather surprised when we told them that wouldn't be the case.

Possibly the strangest potential hooligans I've ever met - after finding that we weren't interested in anything they stood and chatted about what might happen in the game then wished us good luck as we left.

Quite surreal really....!
