Players leaving

Just reading the BBC gossip column saw that Ryan Jarvis has gone on loan to Kilmarnock. Sure he couldve done a good job for us, scored a few goals at Orient last season.

Morrison thats the one. How much did they want, somethink silly i no

£125k i think ... we offered them £30k up front with bonuses (appearances / promotion) that'd take it up to £100k but Cambridge said they wanted all the cash up front

I think it's the worst kept secret in the town that there's a bit of a drinking culture at the club. I've got absolutely no problem with it as long as it doesn;t intefere with Matches or Training, it's when that happens that it gets out of hand and needs to be clamped down upon.

agreed, I would only really panic, if they came out of the tunnel with a bottle of Smirnoff Ice on the go

Good news that players are set to leave.

Our squad is too bloated, particularly up front.

Whilst I appreciate the contribution Lee Bradbury has made, he would have been top of my list to move on. Foran is now back from suspension and we have an embarrassment of riches up front.* Foran, Paynter and the under-rated Harrold can all play the targetman role. What is less convincing is who can be the goalscorer alongside them. Hooper has disappointed to date and McDonald is unproven at this level.

*Or was it that we are just embarrassing up front?

Foran, Paynter and Harrold can play that role but then so could many others. Danny Webb could play that role. He wasn't very good at it though. Bradbury was the only player in the squad who was any good in that position. I don't think either Foran or Paynter are targetmen anyway. They both strike me as players who are more comforable playing off of someone rather than leading the line themselves.

Paynter wouldn't be best utilised as someone to lump balls up in the air for him to win, but rather play balls into his chest, or into the channels for him to chase. Not sure what label you want to give that role, but its a secondary forward role, who partners a goalscorer.

The trouble with Bradbury is that he was so immobile he struggled to get to any ball that wasn't played right at him. Bournemouth will be ideal for him as they are use to having to play a ball direct to Steve Fletcher. Harrold is a lot more mobile and is better in the air than Bradbury. He lacks Bradbury's experience but he will only get this by playing.

I think we'll have to disagree about Harrold being better in the air than Bradbury. Matty isn't as bad in the air as he's often portrayed on here, but he doesn't win anything like as much in the air as Bradbury does. In my opinion ;)

Players out -

Bradbury _ Bournemouth have been after him for months

Gower - pity, but more cash towards the rent

JCR - swap for Byfield

Foran - bye

Hammell ( yes Hammell) -

"who needs Steve Hammell when we got Che Wilson "

Harrold - Dagenham - will score 3 in the JPT

Hooper - Orient on loan

Liptak - University of Essex and Wivenhoe Town

Adameno - Cambridge on loan (when fit)

Moussa - Vitesse Arnhem on loan

Paynter - Travis Perkins

MacDonald - disruptive influence since the new nutritionist arrived .

Would save a few bob eh Ron ? ;)

Got the first one right - rest to follow ???!
