The timeline of this thread could literally be a football documentary. So many lows, then so much hope, then more set backs then wow, so many other teams results went our way. I think it’s written in the stars tbh. Look at the last game of the season, then the first play off game then last nights play off game. Crazy scenes. Will be heart breaking to lose and Wembley now.
Don't think like that. Positive thoughts. The stars are aligned!!

Can you complete sequence.....

PL - Liverpool (Liver bird)
FA Cup - Crsytal Palace (Eagle)
EFL Cup - Newcastle (Magpie)
Europa League - Spurs (cockerel)
NL PO - ........

2025 is the ornithological year of football achievements....Owl trumps Shrimp 😉

Seriously - two clubs with years of EFL history, two decent fans bases, and two clubs that have comeback from the brink under calamitous owners.

There will be joy / anguish on the 1st June - but it should feel like a real occasion with the support - and will try to remember the famous words of Rudyard Kipling

"If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster, And treat those two impostors just the same...."

"....you are clearly not a football fan on a forum"

All that birds stuff is just wishful thinking, we always win at Wembley when the year ends in a 5!:Winking:

Of course it is!

But we have 10 days to fill, so nonsense will be required.

I have seen Latcs twice at Wembley (the only times that they have played there):

1990 Lost to Nottingham Forest 1-0 in the League Cup Final
1994 Drew 1-1 with Manchester United in the FA Cup Semi-final

Just need a win to complete the set 😉

Then you have definitely come to the right place.

That’s a proper set. Shows where Oldham used to be

Latics fan here. Congratulations on firstly saving the club, and secondly getting to Wembley. We've had 34 years of steady decline. Protests, 4 relegations, dodgy owners & the rest. I'd argue both fanbases deserve the win on the 1st. I've been to Roots Hall 4 times over the years, with mixed results. A tidy ground & a real club.

As for next week. I'm not confident. We've had the play offs too easy. We've faced no adversity. We faced a scared Halifax & and an over confident York. Halifax were overwhelmed. York's fans & players in the pre match warm up thought they had it won easily.

Southend are a different animal. I've been really impressed with your fight & character. You play some good stuff too. I'm worried about Forson. He looks a real player.

The side that lost 1-0 in March is vastly different to who played in these play offs. In attitude, but also in personel, so I wouldn't read too much into that as a guide. Only 2 of the 11 who started at Roots Hall, started on Tuesday.

Whilst we have a "long ball" label, (that was definitely true pre players returning / coming in) - I'd say we just mix it up. We've been ruthless in the play offs, but have played some decent stuff, to go along with some physicality.

Yoganathan is a talent at this level. 19 year old on loan from Barnsley. He looks a prospect. Runs at players & opens the game up. Good shot on him too. He's the one to watch.

Apologies for the essay. Best of luck next week, but not too much.

Welcome to the Zone mate. Opposition fans are always welcome, apart from the billy big bollox ones obviously. The countdown is on and I'm sure the game will be one to remember, whoever wins.

Our fans are accused of being big bollocks, but 90% are fine. (Our twitter hashtag is like the wild west though - I'd avoid that as a representation of us). I'm not sure there is another like it. We've had everything from threats, fights, protests, the club apologising to a supporter for taking a photo & it looks like she's sticking her hands down her pants.
A fan asked why there is an advert for viagra on the website to which the club replied "That's due to your search history & cookies". He'd done 900 games & never came back in embarrassment after he was absolutely rinsed by the fanbase.

Most are Rough & ready, but mean no harm.

Hopefully the ones who try to cause issues don't come on here. It'd be good if regardless of the result, the clubs can show some respect for each other. That definitely wasnt the case on Tuesday.

Really like the look of Yoganathan in both games in the play off. H e worries me. The one reference to the game at the Hall, I though we handled Fondop well that day, hopefully we can do that again.

Like you, I would hope that two of the larger clubs in the NL with a long league history, can show each other respect, on and off the pitch.

Good Luck, but as you say, not too much of it, eh?

You did handle Fondop well that day, but he was up front with Harratt. He's got Garner with him now & together they seem to work. Worked last season before Garner got injured & it has late on here.

Yoga is the danger man. He's got better & more confident with every game. You can tell he's from a level or 2 up.

Can he play anywhere? I bet he's flexible 😉
