Love Mr Pedant
This is quite interesting...

A shoot-out is usually considered for statistical purposes to be separate from the match which preceded it. In the case of a two-legged fixture, the two matches are still considered either as two draws or as one win and one loss; in the case of a single match, it is still considered as a draw. This contrasts with a fixture won in extra time, where the score at the end of normal time is superseded.

So when we are looking at historical records vs a certain team, would a pens win come up as draw?

Let’s not forget Halifax. They, like Gateshead are in complete free fall.

They have only won game (against AFC Fylde) in their last 8. Picking up 5 points from 24.

Gateshead won 2 and lost 6 from the last 8.
Braintree get a point at the Shay and then Wealdstone beat them to stay up last day we could be in position of getting a draw at Gateshead and getting 7th or even 6th. All very interesting. The goal swing at Ebbsfleet made a lot of permutations possible AS LONG AS WE BEAT WEALDSTONE.

IF we nick the final play-off place then it wouldn't surprise me at all if the coaching team re-introduced the siege mentality of last season, as it would be **** or bust at that point. The circumstances and tension are different in the Play-offs, so anything can happen.

We'll know Gateshead's & Altrincham's results prior to kick off due to us being the later 5.30 fixture, not sure if this helps or hinders. If they both win then that's a lot of pressure, if we don't win then its season over. If they both lose/draw then our game turns into a major banana skin but at least we'll know it's going down to the last day regardless. Its a slightly strange position to be in as we're not really used to these different timed fixtures.

I'm very worried about our game considering Wealdstone are the 3rd team in a row that we play at home who are fighting for their lives. The two prior have been awful, boring and incredibly poor tactical games, we can't let this happen for a 3rd time! They'll come here and do exactly what the others have done, sit back and hit us on the counter. We need to learn how to break these teams down and take a bit of ownership, grab the bull by the horns as such. We've somehow managed to give ourself a chance to potentially get a play-off spot, lets not let that go with a whimper.
We didn’t win the last two home games, because it’s was a 3pm kick off jinx!

Now here's an interesting perspective on the Play Offs situation from the Altrincham fans forum - he appears to be suggesting we will draw with Wealdstone but beat Gateshead:

Looking at the remaining matches, this is doable IF we win on Saturday (which is by no means a certainty). York, FGR and (almost) Oldham have all secured their spot. Five sides are contesting the remaining three spots, namely:

Rochdale 68
Halifax 67
Gateshead 66
------------
Southend 64
Altrincham 63

ROCHDALE:
Rochdale have a game in hand on everyone else and should take all three points at home on Saturday. That should see them over the line even though their away form could see them struggle in their final two remaining games.
Final points prediction: 71-72

HALIFAX:
Despite their league position, form has abandoned Halifax both home and away. They look shaky and I think they'll struggle to win either of their remaining games. Worth noting that our goal difference is superior to Halifax's, should it come to that.
Final points prediction: 68-69

GATESHEAD:
Gateshead have one of the trickiest run-ins. Their form is patchy at best and they travel first to a Boston side who have taken all nine points from their last three home games (as we well know). Their final home game is an 8th vs 7th against Southend. A draw in that match would be great for us but I reckon Southend will edge it.
Final Points prediction: 66

SOUTHEND:
Wealdstone at home should be a safe three points for Southend but with Wealdstone fighting to stay up I think it could go either way. The final game away at Gateshead is another toss up, but I think Southend have the stronger form there.
Final points prediction: 67-68

ALTRINCHAM:
Honestly, who knows which Altrincham will turn up on any given day? I fear our trip to Dagenham and Redbridge could be our undoing. I'm more confident of victory in our final game at home to Tamworth, who are busy imploding, but we have a similar knack depending on which side of bed we get out of.
Final points prediction: 63-69

So... after much number crunching: I think 6 points could get us over the line in 7th or even 6th. 4 points could see us just sneak in or just miss out. Anything less will almost certainly see us out of the playoff picture for this season.

A mention of our great crowds, (we are the only non-league club to get bigger crowds than Bury FC, in itself, remarkable), but also news of teams we may face next season as well as more on Bury FC, showing there can be life after a crook tries his best to destroy your club!
