Ah, well goes back beyond 3 seasons for me.... tho must admit the city is a rather nice place to visit. Am currently in North Devon...

We can now qualify for the play offs by drawing with Gateshead (as well as beat them of course).

If our opponents today wake themselves up and beat Halifax then we would end up 6th if we win.

Gotta avoid York if we can.....

I posted this in the Ebbsfleet post-match thread.........not really in the right place. As it's still relevant I'll give it another airing on a more appropriate thread!

"The aim surely is not to just reach the play-offs, although that would already be quite an achievement. So, I have a cunning plan! We need to finish in seventh place which would likely give us an away tie to Rochdale or Oldham, which we win. I would then make the short trip to Lourdes to pray that Halifax can deal with York and we can defeat Forest Green. In comparison to that lead in, the Final should be easy-peasy! In truth, if there is any justice in the World (which I'm having serious doubts about at the moment), then York should be promoted and if we are not at Wembley I'll certainly be rooting for them. Don't want to see them in the National League next season, if we are still there."

Well, if we beat Gateshead, Halifax lose and Oldham lose (assuming we make up the -3 goal difference with Oldham in the meantime), we could finish 5th. Unlikely, but could happen.

Think we could be playing Gateshead at the right time Monday week. They are struggling for form, as with us our form and performances are improving.
Think if the performances remain positive we will take 7th place.
Kev please don’t tinker too much to the personnel. And keep the tactics as they are.
As the old saying goes “ If it isn’t broken don’t fix it “

Trying to put my unbiased objective brain into gear, I looked at the remaining games for the teams currently 4th to 10th and put forward my predicted results. The final table somewhat surprised me:-
4th Halifax 80 pts.
5th Oldham 76 pts
6th Rochdale 75 pts
7th Southend 69 pts
8th Altrincham 68 pts
9th Gateshead 68 pts
10th Eastleigh 65 pts

I actually had us winning 4, drawing 4 and losing 1 of our last 9 games (Boston ).
Whether or not I have been realistic, I think we can draw one conclusion, Halifax, Oldham and Rochdale are probably uncatchable by us. It is Gateshead and Altrincham we should be targeting. No surprise really as they have both lost 4 on the bounce.
If by some miracle I am proved correct, then it would be Halifax at The Shay in the first play-off. Now that wouldn’t be too bad would it?🥳🥳
I am only showing this again (from March 19th), not to gloat on how close my prediction was 8 games ago (I may still be wrong), but to illustrate yet again that people always overestimate how many points we would need to get in the play-offs. If it is to be Gateshead, then they will have 69, we would do it with 68 (although we could get 70).
