Planet Funk - Chase the Sun

Goal Celebration Music - Time For A Change!?

I like "Hey Baby". It's the ONLY time you hear the majority of people singing. Even the old codgers near me join in with the "OO AH".
When we have such a problem with trying to get people to join in with singing during the game why take away the only thing they do respond to?

I reckon he has a valid point here. It is the only time when every age group at the hall sings in unison and thats because its a tune that everyone recognises (and the words are simple). I have no problem with change but it has to be for a tune as widely known across the age spectrum and as simple, if not better than we already have. I personally dont think that 'chase the sun' fits into that bracket. A one off xmas special of 'merry christmas' from slade would be fun on saturday though!

Der, der, der, der, derrrrr, der, der, der, der, derrrr, der, der, der, der, der S, U, F, C!

(Repeat x 3)

Easy enough eh?

Goes down a treat at the darts, can see no reason why even the oldies wouldnt join in to this one.

Lets give it a go saturday, and dont forget to add the 'S, U, F, C' at the end!

Erm, I fear the gentle sarcasm in my comment was lost. I'm not adverse to change but 'like i say' (to coin a much loved phrase) I fear It would need more than a load of der der der's to garner the participance of more than the top corner of the west.

Sorry that suggestion is awful.

Too tepid and no sing along ability.

Gloucester has a valid point if we are trying to raise the level of noise at matches then taking away hey baby is not the way forward...yes its tacky but everyone sings it...personally its the only time i hear it as im not a fan of said song....Planet funk have a great catalogue of tunes in their arsenal catch the sun great for darts but is it really something we can all sing and get behind the team with......my guess is no.....i used to like the "get ready for this" tune they used to play before moulin r.

No probs, do you have a suggestion then sir?

Infact, all those opposed to this tune, please make an alternate suggestion?...

I agree, I think hey baby is fine as people do sing to it, I reckon it should remain our goal song.

Chase the sun was used for several games last season (ones where we actually scored goals too!) and the fact that not many people remember it shows it didn't catch on as it's not really a sing along song.

Id rather it stayed as it is than changed to the one originally suggested above.

The fratellis tune is a good one as an alternative as at least the crowd would join in.

Lots dont like Hey Baby and Id certainly not have it on my iPod, but people do sing it and it keeps the goal celebration going longer than it would without music.

Might be better suited to music for the teams to come out to.

Personally, I think it would be brilliant if they tried to theme it from week to week but then that would take some work and I'm sure no-one would be interested in going that bit further.

That's exactly the point I was making. Let's leave the goal celebration music the same and find another tune to sing for the rest of the game!

I liked the Monkees "I'm a Believer" - especially with the words supplied by Firestorm (slightly modified);

"Then I saw the Blues, Now i'm a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind
Going Up,(aah ahh) I'm a believer
You'll never beat us if you try."

Cue the negative comments and outraged responses ....:thump:

Well...my initial suggestion would be that if it aint broke.....dont fix it. If however i had to make a choice, it would have to be something that all would recognise and know the chorus (which should be words rather than 'ders'). Something like 'wonderwall' perhaps?
