* Sigh *

Thread title edited to Latest Rumours.

I'm sure there are even 'later' ones, I wish there was a 'may contain unsubstantiated content' disclaimer, etc, etc...

You may sigh, but I guess that is where a lot of confusion lies. People see "Breaking News" and regardless of the fact that the post itself said it was only a rumour, some people seem to believe it to be fact. They then seem to forget that they have a choice as to whether or not they want to believe it.

Understood, hence the action. I sigh even more deeply at the truth in your final sentence.

I love the way people moan about this thread but if they used their brains and didn't post it would soon disappear from the front page.

*bump*

I love it.

What's the big deal?

I'm sure many of you have applied for a job whilst in a position... Have you not? This is no different.

If he gets it - great. Good luck to him.

If it's not true then even better because you would like to think he signed to do a job at Southend.

I would have thought every club in the country has the bloke's CV and that it has just been found at the bottom of the pile. No biggy.

This goes on all the time - It's just not aired too much. Agents always trying to look for a slice of money.

All this talk of "what's your source?"

Brown sauce for me baby! Phil Brown is the future.

Not immediately after joining after being thrown a lifeline after a year out no !

That's the issue for me, if he does already have an eye on a move before the season has even started then thats not exactly impressive.

Not too much to ask for a little bit of commitment from a manger or player, even if its only a year or two ?

I do agree. It sucks, however it is not unusual...

Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised. As a fan, if true it would be disappointing but this clearly goes on and the term "stepping stone" springs to mind.

I think we would all be able to get over it though. It would leave a bit of an uncomfortable taste in the mouth if this were true though. I am sure we will never find out for sure unless he were to get the job!

I also think it should tell any club that receives his application something about his loyalty values......

Have you ever worked in recruitment?

This is definitely something to consider, I agree.

The harsh reality is that football managers only tend to last in a job for 5 minutes these days anyway. I don't think loyalty is something that is top of most clubs lists.

Lets face it whether the rumour is correct or not, he is not going to get the job at Sheff Utd. The guy has been applying left right and centre for jobs in the last year and eventually we gave him the opportunity. Although im happy to give him the time and support him i really dont think a club of their size will appoint PB at this stage. Probably time to close the thread....maybe start a new one titled PB applies for Donny Rovers job!!!! lol

Of course he won't get the job; who'd employ someone who's only won 2 out of his last 24 matches ?

Most of them on that article are the manager getting the boot though. Its pretty rare for a manager to be looking to move on after a month.

There is nothing else to do but move on though, if its true and he doesnt get the job it will never be confirmed anyway. Only time will tell whether he is actually committed to the cause.

I'd be very surprised if they were to offer him the job.

As someone else said to offload the youth players and then look to leave the club = no morals.

I think most managers will see their jobs as stepping stones, unless they have a real connection with the club. Brown doesn't have that and doesn't have a reason to, but I thought he would give it at least a season to prove himself!

Looking on that list, Henning Berg lasted 57 days and got given £2.25m as compensation - just less than £40k a day!

Sadly , I agree with you.
But as a Chairman , if a guy that just accepted a job elsewhere , then declared his 'love' for my team , I'd be a little bit concerned.
