I had to "watch" this via Facebook updates as I am working overseas. I rarely miss an away game, but I've missed both 4-1s this season. Grrrr.....

Sounded like an awesome evening out for the 545 Shrimpers who made the trip, and it is a result that really announces us proper contenders.

Lets hope we can do the same on Saturday. I've never seen us get a win at Gillingham.

Our striking options are brilliant at the moment. Shwos the importance of pace and strength, both MAF and Cox dont get bullied off the ball like smaller strikers would.
Just hope we can get some of our key players signed up on longer contracts.

I think the other thing to bear in mind is that MAF has played at the very top level and is a very astute player. I love the fact that second goal happens about 2 seconds from people ironically cheering a poor(ish) clearance from Ted, the balls in the net.

Fortune got himself into a perfect position in that he got in front of his man brilliantly, any real effort to stop him would have resulted in a penalty so he really couldn't lose from the moment he took posession. Just really sharp forward play from him.

And has also played with Cox before at WBA, that understanding makes a big difference too. Incredible to think now that some weren't happy with any of the forward signings (MAF, Cox, Ranger or Robinson) - for me I wouldn't swap those 4 for anyone else's in the division if I had the chance.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned was the period at the start of the second half before MAF scored. Peterborough did come out and have a go and we stood up well and did not allow them back in the game. That was a really impressive spell by the whole team and rounded of by that excellent 2nd goal. You could see the Posh body language drop not just because of the goal but they knew it was game over. No surprise when a 3rd quickly followed.

I must admit I'd forgotten about that! even better then lets hope they continue to flourish! Both clever intelligent players.

Won't add anything bar the fact MAF is the best striker we have had for a while. His work for the team is ridiculous! Has so many positives attributes it's unfair on the oppo. Our track record of signing "past it" strikers hasn't been great but he has shown Freeman / Harris etc up big time!

We will forgive Freeman for his lack of goals. Tes was the last goalkeeper scoring goals excluding pens. Freedman on the other hand was a disappointment :tease:

The only smallest of negative points I would make is that I wonder sometimes if the energy used by Cox and Fortune in chasing down opposing defendants is always worthwhile. I know it looks good to many supporters and it can unsettle some defenders but it can tire our players and at times leave them "distant" so that when we get the ball back straight away they can be out of position and isolated.

Just a small point ................ a picky point .................... on 2nd thoughts I don't know why I posted this.

Hmm, maybe ............BUT when he can swap those two for Nile and Theo, it is worth them running the defense ragged.

Freedman was looking class until he did his ankle and never really recovered so I would say that's harsh on him.

MAF is awesome though, him and Cox are on fire at the moment best partnership we've had in a long time.

This exactly- would be a problem if we were just relying on those two- this is why PB is so keen on plenty of good quality and different striking options. Defend in the oppo half where they can't hurt you. I think we are now 3rd highest goals for in the league so its working I would say.

WOW - the boys followed up on my prediction... a tonking of the home side.

It was a great time to play these boys who must be having a crisis of confidence at the moment.

Well done blues.

After 12 games I think we were For 12... Against 23. We are now P33.. F51.. A40.

So since our good form started... P21.. F28.. A17.

Which has seen us pick up 41 points on the way. Nice to see us improve so much at both ends of the pitch. That's not taking anything away from our mid-field lads because they have played a crucial part in protecting the back 4 and chipping in with vital goals this season.

Just imagine where we'd be now if we didn't have that bad start to the season :nope:

You need a new calculator

Should be P.21 For 39 Against 17
