So, what's the conclusion? Do we deduce that Coker leaving in January is a 'done deal' so we need to secure a 'mature' LB until Kyprianou is ready?

I like Coker; along with Lenny he is one player you can rely on when the going gets tough, but it would not suprise me if he is going - he's at a time in his career when he may need to move if he's ever going to play at a higher level, and RM isn't going to turn down a decent fee given our financial predicament.

Brown's an egotistical tosser.

I personally think Coker has been picking up in recent weeks but what he suffered most last season was basically the luxury we had of seeing Hendrie. Hendire was quite clearly head and shoulders above this level IMO and looked absolute mustard at times. When Coker came back, he wasn't match fit, got rushed back and looked bang average for the majority of his return.

I still think Coker is a class player on his day, but going from Hendrie to Coker last season really showed the difference in levels IMO.

Given that he had surgery in the summer, I still think he was playing with an injury from Christmas onwards, when Brown rushed him back for the game at Colchester on Boxing Day.

I know I'll be on thin ice for dare questioning this post....But how was Coker rushed back on Boxing day, when he had only missed one game so far at that stage. Which was Millwall away back in the September

I was thinking the same but didn't he suffer some sort of injury in the Bury game before which nearly ruled him out? I can't remember tbh

I find it amazing how this has degenerated into another Brown bashing thread with the conclusion that he is "egotistical tosser"

Brown is far from perfect and has made plenty of odd selections and poor signings which are certainly worthy of criticism. However all that is happened is that we have been approached by an agent with left back who has played at a much higher level and he might come in and train for us. I would be more disappointed if we simply turned away such opportunities.

As for destroying Coker's confidence. I like Coker and hope he stays but f the stories are true that he is potentially moving to Ipswich he is going to have considerably more competition there than he is at Southend. If it feels he can make it in the championship why would he be so worried about us possibly trialling a new left back.

He picked up an injury towards the end of the previous match. Should never have featured at the Ewes.
