I thought this at the time as well, he half came out, half bottled and this caused him to get clattered.

He has improved though, and made a couple of smarts saves last night, but he still looks nervous and his distribution still lacks. His positioning is a bit suspect too, I thought he was well out for the winner last night.

Bloody Hell! Just as well he has improved!

bloody hell fact is we lost last night and all 11 were to blame in some way to keep picking at players is silly, smith maybe should of done better with the corner but it was w**K defending aswell and all 90 minutes, smith made x amount of saves to keep the score respectable for us give the guy a break

I personally think DB is more up to job than Smith who cant catch a ball and even when we are losing seems to have no sense of urgency. With PS in goal we are going nowhere.

At first i thought he was a bit dodgy with crosses but has looked better by the game. Made a great save on Saturday to tip a ball over the bar. I'm sure his initial issue was a bit of nerves, especially after his recent years. I've certainly got more confidence in him, more so than Daniel Bentley. Bentley will improve in time though, he is our future keeper i reckon.

Still dodgy with crosses!

Very little confidence now!

Bring in Bentley, the future begins now!

Overall opinion, Smith is S***!

I fear his cards are marked now - Belford was a fault for a number of goals but because he started well at the club and bantered with fans, no-one focused on his mistakes like I fear is going to happen with Smith now.

Not a fan - yes he has made a few good saves but he is rooted to the goal line and cannot catch a ball. Now I am no football expert but surely these are two basics for a good keeper plus he is too quiet for my liking. There is a time and a place to punch the ball but not every time!!!

Couldn't agree with you more! Needs to watch some videos of Merv The Swerve.

There was a reason he lost his place at Forest

I don't think so and l don't think it looked like an accident either. I am touched by your compassion.

Still think he's lacking confidence and match fitness. Just doesn't look right atm.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt at first as he didn't have a pre season. But he's played 8-10 games now and he just isn't progressing as the games go on.

Just reminds me of Mildenhall, a lanky, miserable *****

I'm afraid Smith is performing just as I suspected he would having witnessed him in goal against us at the City Ground about 5 years ago. He was rooted to his line and looked petrified every time a high cross came in. He plays in such an important position that i fear we will be frustratingly inconsistent all season with the number of mistakes he will no doubt make. If the fans and his fellow team mates don't have any confidence in him then there is only going to be one outcome.
In my eyes, Luggy has got too many key signings wrong. I'll add Smith to Benyon, Straker and Spicer. Also, for whatever reason, too many of our players are injury prone. I have some sympathy with Luggy in respect of Mark Phillips. A wonderful season last year meant we had to hand him a 2 year contract in the summer. However, I had a horrible feeling that his old injury record would return and so its proved. I have quietly already written off this season because quite simply we are never going to be able to field our full strength eleven like we were able to for the vast majority of last season.

He came for a cross and didn't get near it. Didn't Joe Hart do the same thing in an England shirt last week?
Get behind your team.

End of the day Smith did make a error for there 2nd lets get over it now, he kept us in the game previous to that. everyone is entitled to there own opinion thats fine and what these things are for, what ever anyone thinks smith is here to stay. lets get behind him and the team and look forward.

I watched Smith play several times for Forest when he first went there as my brother in law is a fan of them. The thing that stands out for me at the minute is that he seems to be lacking confidence. Maybe it's a lack of games as PS has mentioned, but I still feel there is a solid keeper in there who will prove to be good for us in the long run. Only time will tell I suppose, but as yet I'm still optimistic he'll deliver.

Its a shame he lacks so much confidence you would think a guy of 6ft 4 would relish everything, his first few years at forest he was great then a couple of silly mistakes fans slated him then he never really recovered. he is a good keeper just needs to grow a pair and get on with it. i stand by him and hope he will show his true ability soon.
